Penta on the mound starting again. Has went 2 innings, 0 hits, 1 walk, 2 ks so far.

1st inning:

Garcia walks, Lisenby singles, Blaine with a sac fly, Ellis gets HBP, Cox homers. Lisenby gets thrown out at home after a wild pitch before the homer, though.

Peralta pinch hits for Roach. Her first appearance in a week and a half.

FC and Schmidt is out at 2nd.

Garcia with a DOUBLE! Runners on 2nd and 3rd for Lisenby as a new pitcher comes in for Chattanooga.

Lisenby's average has went from low .200s to over .300 in the last 2 weeks or so. Glad to see her getting it going at the plate! Her energy is so infectious it was a shame to see her on the bench for so long to start SEC play.

Lisenby with an RBI groundout to SS. Garcia moves to 3rd.

Edit: Blaine grounds out to SS. Interested to see how long Penta pitches this game and if we continue to rest Lowe.

Butt load of defensive moves:

Garcia to LF, Lisenby to DP, Packer to CF for Blaine, Godwin to C, Schmidt to RF, Peralta to SS.

Penta gives up a 1 out single but Penta strikes out 2 and a groundout to McCondichie ends the half inning. Penta is now sitting at 198 strike outs for the season. 2nd in the conference.

Ellis, Cox, McCondichie up.

5-0 Auburn B3rd

Cox goes back to 3B and McCondichie goes back to 2B.

Dismukes in for Penta. Keeping Penta fresh and Lowe recovering.

Dismukes gets the first 2 outs easily with a ground out and a strike out. Then gives up 2 singles. But a full count strike out gets her out of the trouble.

Garcia, Lisenby, Packer (I think) coming up. Need 1 run to end it in the top of the 5th

7-0 B4th

Garcia gets up 3-0 before popping up to 2B on a full count.

Packer is batting in place of Lisenby, not Blaine. Her first action since Arkansas and is playing against her home team.

Ground out to 3rd.

Blaine grounds out as well.

7-0 Auburn T5th

Geraghty goes to RF, Schmidt moves to CF for Packer, and Roach goes to SS.

3 up, 3 down, 3 strike outs for Dimsukes.

Ellis, Cox, McCondichie coming up.

7-0 Auburn B5th A run wins it!

Ellis with a pop up to the pitcher and the ball pops out of the glove. Safe at first! Falisi runs for Ellis.

Cox with a single up the middle! First and 2nd, no outs! Lets get this W!

McCondichie grounds out to 1st but both runners move up. A lot of ways to bring that last run in.

Godwin with a full count ground out to 2B. 2 outs now. The hot-hitting Schmidt is up to win this game!

Damn. Flies out to CF. Hate to not end it in 5.

Dismukes gives up a single but nothing else as she strikes out another batter.

Another opportunity to end this game early.

Roach, Garcia, Geraghty (I think) coming up but will probably see some pinch hitters.

7-0 Auburn B6th

Roach tries to bunt on the first but it goes foul. Next pitch is a chopper up the middle and over the head of everyone in the infield. Single!

Garcia with a 1 pitch single! Runners on 1st and 2nd! 0 out. Gotta win it here.

Geraghty with a bunt single attempt. Runner is out at 2nd but Roach goes to 3rd and Geraghty is safe at first.

Same position as last inning. Runner on 3rd with 1 out.

Wow! Shallow fly ouy and Roach tries to score. Is thrown out by a lot. Awful, awful base running there.

3 outs to win this, wish we could have gotten the run rule to rest our pitchers before having to go on the road to Mississippi State.

7-0 Auburn T7th

Wild pitch runners advance. Shutout gone.

Double clears the bases. :(

7-3 Auburn. Runner on 2nd no outs. This is why you can't leave runners stranded on 3rd in back-to-back innings.

Edit: So much for a lengthy rest. Penta is coming back in to try to close this out.

3 strike outs for Penta! Comes in and just slams the door! She has 201 Ks on the year. Only 2 behind the league leader.

Also, we have to hope Lowe can come back soon. Can't rely on Penta and Dismukes to do it all every week.

Who's leading?  Did Fouts regain the lead?  Maddie was leading by 20+Ks earlier in the year.

Great job by Penta today.  Sydney Cox leading the way on offense.  Frustrating that we couldn't get our 5th straight run-rule.  Falisi was on 3d in bot 5 when a grounder went to second.  Looked like she should've tried to score there.  Too bad Abbey Smith is nursing an injured arm.  Then in the 6th, I think Dean sent Roach on a ball that was too shallow, because Falisi didn't go the other time.  Mocs outfielder made an excellent throw to nail her.

Part of Dismukes' problems in T7 can be attributed to that pop fly behind second that should have been caught.  Had Packer been in the game, it would have been; but Schmidt was in center, and I think Carlee thought she (Carlee) should take it, as she had taken one behind first that was probably the RF's ball the previous inning.  Anyway, we won the game, and a lot of people have gotten experience the past 5 games.

Didn't think of this angle with the schedule.  Pretty smart to schedule some beatable non conference before the final push and give these girls playing time so they can be ready come regional time.
