Ellis pops up to 2B on a 3-0 count. Really hope that was a missed sign because that's stupid to swing on that count.

Cooper hitting again and strikes out on 3 pitches again. I get wanting to get her experience but do it during mid week games. Not in SEC play. She's seen 6 pitches and has struck out twice.

Thanks TGrogan for all the details.  Kinda hard to figure what Dean is up to, but at least it worked for a win today.  So Packer can bat and run, but can't play CF?  Why did Cox not start at third?  And lo and behold, we won a game without hitting a homer?  Has that even happened all season?  Seriously, this was an important win - broke our 6-game conference losing streak.

Edited to say:  Auburn still has a chance to make some noise.  Two cases in point:  1)  Missouri (5-9) opened their series with Kentucky with a 13-0 drubbing of the Wildcats.  2)  Texas A&M (3-12) won the first two games from Alabama.  Today's win was a 9-1 run-rule.

This video that was posted by tgrogan21 shows what a smooth, well-timed swing can do as opposed to trying to kill the ball.  Keeps her head down on the ball and makes full contact directly over the plate.  Schmidt and her hair were on fire in the outfield.  Wish someone (AU video staff) would make a compilation of Lisenby and her antics behind the plate....she is a hoot.

That was definitely a smooth, natural swing.  Nearly left the yard.  Take what the pitcher throws and let it jump off the bat.

Penta is on the mound again to start the game. Like I said yesterday, until Lowe gets back to 100% it looks like we'll pitch Penta every game. Hope to get a big lead early so we can bring in Lowe or Dismukes early.

Penta gets a strike out before giving up a double.

Falls behind 2-0 to the next batter and Dean comes out to the mound to talk to her and the infield. Pitch is outside, gets past Lisenby. Runner moves to 3rd. Penta hits the batter. Runners on the corner.

5 straight balls and Auburn has activity in the bullpen already.

Seriously don't know why Cox is not playing ... Ground out to McNemar and she makes a throwing error. Luckily Ellis catches the ball and no runner scores. Bases loaded with 1 out. Disappointing start to this game.

Ellis battling hard. Fell behind 0-2 and has fouled off a lot. Just misses a homer foul. Fights back to a full count! Love these at bats so far today. So much better than the past 2 games!

11 pitch at bat ends in a fly out. But the damage is done. Lets hope pitching can hold on to this lead!

Ground out to Roach at SS. Low throw but a nice pick by Ellis to save the error.

This Mississippi State Hitter, Kennedy, has been making our pitchers work ALL weekend. Has fouled out SO many pitches. Foul ball hit towards Ellis and she drops it.

Redemption as another foul ball but Ellis catches it this time! 15 pitch at bat ... WOW!

Edit: Actually it was a 17 pitch at bat. Statbroadcast caps at 15 during the middle of the inning and then updates at the end. She had 9 straight foul balls.
