Why does this keep moving to the smack forum?

I posted it on the regular forum to discuss it without the constant whataboutism.  If a Mod has an issue with a post, then address the poster. There is no reason to have moved it here.

There is a reason which you routinely ignore.

I would need to know a lot more to actually have a concern.  Meeting someone at the White House can mean a lot of things.  Do I find it shocking that the son of the Vice President has increased access and those that he is in business with also have a heightened access to the then Vice President?  No.

The whataboutisms are valid in this type situation.  Why?  Because this is at least in part of fishing expedition being pushed by the party that doesn't currently occupy the White House.  The fact that they had no problem with much more blatant conduct than this when they did occupy the White House is very relevant.

Just post everything here in the smack talk forum..everyone reads both forums and responds in kind...having two forums is a little silly and unAmerican..I guess it's designed to separate the elite from the clowns...finding unity isn't much of a thing anymore, so it's pertinent to some that we separate everyone with different thought processes. I guess its to confirm self accredited virtrues, and condemn the "lessers" .....my fear is that what we see here on this very forum, is the future of America...our kids, friends and relatives who have kids....will be subject to as such........not  the America that was intended....

If things were like they ought to be, and we had a forum of mostly functioning adults, the main forum would be the only one.  This one still exists as something of a concession, partly for the occasional silly meme and partly because some folks can't have a sensible in-depth discussion about anything political.  Unless "elite" means "talks like a sane, normal person", then no it's not to separate the elites from anything.

Sheesh..."functioning adults"  in the very first sentence....describe functioning  adults and how you get to be the one who discern between those and yours...

Let's put it this way, it's like how you define pornography as opposed to say, art.  You know it when you see it.

It's really not that hard to tell the difference in people who seem to live to lob grenades and score points for their tribe, and those who can go back and forth on a subject with people they might disagree with in a civil manner.

I haven’t tried this in years so I don’t even know if they have comments anymore, but there was a time there were sports “discussions” on Al.com. Rarely good ones. Mostly snark. That’s what the political forum had devolved into, thus giving rise to a choice of political discussion forum.

Rules were designed to assure a modicum of effort to start/frame a discussion on that forum and then greater rule enforcement to maintain it. The Smack forum could be a lot looser. Someone could post a link and maybe a decent conversation might happen. Someone could also post an article with a jab not intended to really start a good discussion. Instead of banning those altogether, a second forum was created, thus giving folks the option to pursue the exchange they desired. Choice— what’s more American than that? 😉
