I allow it to be played because it's true. You can believe it or not but facts don't change. We play 4 true freshman, no other top teams do that. I'm putting you on ignore so I don't have to continue to see your idiotic posts about this.

And I challenge you to pay attention and watch, you will be playing the young team card again, and again, as there will be girls who come in and shine then transfer out due to lack of coaching, getting worse, etc.  Look at Snow at OU. Been nice to keep her..  stats are for chumps.... it is about wins and losses... CMD's contract extension was based on what.... oh we are young? Surely we didn't throw money at a 3 year excuse on a contract extension....... we lost Swindall, Perry, Dowell, Rivera & Handley.... that was 4 Seniors..... now granted we have girls out of positions as well. Garcia is not an outfielder and a junior.... and the 1 run scored was on a fly ball that any real outfielder would have caught if they knew what steps to take and how to play the outfield. Godwin has played the OF and would have been better there. Garcia belongs at 3rd... that is one example....

Regarding Garcia: For someone playing out of position I feel she has given a very good account of herself.  Her fielding stats are almost identical to Packer (a true outfielder).  I recall a number of good effort plays she has made this year as well as what we would consider routine catches.  Keep in mind that the runner who scored was the result of a walk, then advanced to 2nd on a passed ball and then scored on a ball over the head of the right fielder.  So three different AU players were involved in the run scored, and "share the blame" so to speak.

There are only nine positions out there. If you need her bat in the lineup, it's not as simple as just putting her at third. Every lineup change results in a chain reaction. Move one player, others have to be moved or benched as well. Unless one is working with the kids daily, it's not possible to know all the factors involved.

I spent the better part of 30 years being involved in playing, coaching and managing baseball. (at lower levels than SEC competition) Every time I heard "put me in coach" the first question that must be answered is always, "who comes out?" It's not as simple as you want it to be.

True, however if you need that bat you also have Godwin that is C/OF with a cannon arm that is also in the batting line up, then keep Garcia in the line up as DP... but you also need to teach the fundamentals of the position they are playing also.... for example: first steps for a ball hit to you, catch the ball at the highest point, angles to the ball, etc. You watch our OF and there is not much in the way of fundamentals being used therefore one must assume they are not being taught...  I also saw that our RPI has now dropped into 30's now....  guess that means we won't be hosting a regional

Missouri 3, Alabama 0.  Looks like we aren't the only team who can't score on Missouri.  I think they will beat Tennessee also.  Lost twice to them in Columbia, but they are playing hot now.  Good coaching job going on there.

That’s the difference in coaching. Miss coach got his team to play better when it counted but our team struggled down the stretch.

it shows up in the tournament.

She definitely got her team going at the right time! We have the athletes at AU and the difference just seems to be coaching like you stated..

Penta named 1st Team All-SEC.

Bri Ellis named SEC Freshman of the Year.

My goodness this year was a complete topsy turvy. With nearly the full pitching staff returning, all I was hoping for was an offense that could get us 3 or 4 runs a game in SEC. Offense really exceeded that mostly but our pitching ended up being 1 pitcher we could rely on.  Never expected that.  I know injuries were the primary factor but crazy nonetheless.

I did not watch the Bama vs Missouri game but glanced at the stats.  Fouts pitched all 7 innings as did Krings for Missouri.  their SO's and hits were very similar but noticed Fouts threw 119 pitches vs 84 pitches for Krings.  Very efficient, averaging 12 pitches per inning.

It was a great game and Mizzou battled then took advantage of some timely ball in play situations.... 1st time in 17 years (I think) that they lost their tournament opener...... Mizzou is making a run it appears

17 years since Bama lost their first game in tournament. Geez.

now that’s consistency.  Unfortunately surprisingly  it was their hitting that did them in.

If anybody can break down the stats I would like to see how our hitting seemed to go downhill down the stretch.

Our pitching struggled bc of injuries but I think a Penta and every now and then KK would at east keep us in most every game.

we were so HR driven it seemed in the first half of year that it covered u our weaknesses in RISP when we needed a hit. Our HRS seemed to take a nosedive at the end and bc our biggest HR players were 2+freshmen right, it seemed the pressure  was on them.

especially when I saw our best SEC hitter didn’t even hit .300?

Missouri shuts out Tennessee tonight. They have not allowed a run in the SEC Tournament. Makes me feel a little bit better about our hitting heading into the tournament.

Arkansas put one inning together, mostly on Florida mistakes, and beat them 4-1.  Florida's pitcher Krlicek mishandled a couple of easy ground balls.  Arky-Mizzou should be a good game, unless Missouri's pitching is worn out.  Missouri reminds me a bit of Ole Miss a few years back (2017), when they got hot and won the tournament behind one pitcher (Lee?), when it was in Knoxville.

Mizzou is using both Weber and Krings. If they follow the same rotation, Krings will start tonight vs Arkansas.

Arkansas defeated Missouri 4-0 for the championship, getting 12 hits to Missouri's 2.  I missed it because I thought it started at 7 Central.  Maybe they jump-started because of weather.  Missouri only scored 6 runs in 3 games to reach the final.

Delce pitched lights out.  Don't recall seeing that level of pitching control in a game involving two such high level teams.

"Chenise Delce, named the SEC Pitcher of the Year only one day earlier, needed just 68 pitches to spin the two-hit shutout. She did not walk a single batter and struck out five while lowering her season's ERA to 0.64."

We had great hitting teams in 2015 and 2016, but the 2017 was a big drop down after Howard, Carosone, and Rhodes left.

Don't forget Wallace and Coop! 🙂

Heard something interesting while talking to some of the parents at their tailgate when we stopped by there at one of the last home series.... surprisingly several of the girls go to a Meyers for hitting lessons which could be the improvement in our hitting this season....

Very interesting if true. We all know coaching was never the issue with the family.

If this is true, it is a smart move by Dean that I assume was facilitated by Carosone.

Didn't forget them, but they both played in 2017.  Cooper's average fell off a lot, but I think Wallace led the team.  She then transferred to Baylor.

This would not be logical.  It is my understanding that he is not allowed contact with the program.

Ken Brooke

Private hitting coach and hitting technology specialist at Auburn University softball.

I believe he has been involved since August 2021.
