Ummm, he only had 3 conference championships and 1 2nd place.

At least get your numbers right. Any idiot should have won with the situation he inherited. He didn't tear it down, but he definitely left if stagnant.

If you're going to judge on Auburn, it gets a hell of a lot worse for him.

That narrative was being pushed by some folks. I think I read it on here, so I took it to be fact.😁Probably by the same people who said Harsin had an affair with a subordinate. Just curious, where did the #Stop Steel Movement originate?

Not sure all that will ever happen... Even if Greene and Harsin are gone, history tells us AU will never be completely aligned. Not with Tubbs, Gustav, Chiz, Bowden. Only exception is Dye...Think about it, the big $ men at AU supposedly wanted Kevin Steele... This is Auburn, always been dysfunctional,  prob always will be.

Mikey, you don't think Auburn is dysfunctional?

I am going to laugh my ass off when the Aggies have the highest pay roll in college football with nothing to show for it.

They haven't won anything of importance since WW2 and they've always had all the money in the world.  They are losers and always will be.  Their 8-4 season was hyped internally as a huge success.  We fired Gus for that result.

Wonder why they didn't try to run Avalos off this offseason. He sure did "coach em down" it seems

Auburn makes plenty money. Don’t they always finish top 10 almost top 5 in revenue?

NIL has nothing to do with AD revenues.

Plenty, plenty, plenty of money at Auburn! More than the vast majority of schools! We got off to a very slow, disorganized NIL start. Not surprised… Why? We need key leaders, in key positions.

Look at our campus, our athletic facilities, the unbelievable, record-breaking fundraising we do as a university system. Money isn’t the problem, leadership is!

Hopefully with the new school president, new athletic Director in January and possibly new head football coach after this season or next, the leadership will be there!

I'm sorry, but this is uninformed. Our record breaking fundraising is in the world's tallest midget category. It's great for us, great for the state of AL, competitive in the old SEC, no match for Texas, ATM, CA schools, Michigan, etc. We just raised our first billion dollars a few years ago. Texas cleared that hurdle 25-30 years ago.

For one, 3 conference championships in 7 years is good no matter who or where you are. And he had 5 conference championship appearances in 7 years which is also really good. No argument, he did inherit a good situation at Boise. But maintaining a program isn't easy. Sometimes it works like at OSU with Day and with Riley while he was at OU but many times coaches have taken over dynasties and led them into mediocrity.  Look at the current state of FSU, Nebraska, Miami, and USC and there are many more. You don't just bumble through 7 years of success on accident.

If you want to say he is not meeting expectations here, that is perfectly fair but I don't see the point in diminishing what he did at Boise. He did a good job there. Maybe that eventually translates here, maybe it doesn't but his history indicates he is a good coach.

He also did that against a significantly tougher SOS than any of his predecessors did.

IMO Auburn can do it the Dabo way, but we're not gonna' do it the Saban, Kirby, or Day way (meaning we aren't gonna finish in the top 4 every year in recruiting).

When Dabo was competing for the title he had 1) a great QB 2) playmakers and/or home run hitters at WR and RB, and 3) most importantly a dominant Defensive Line. Get that and you can live with high 3 and low 4 stars every where else. And Auburn should be capable of recruiting at that level.

The big difference is the recruiting.

Harsin inherited a dynamo at Boise State which was essentially the Alabama of the MWC.

Their recruiting was #1 in the conference during pretty much his entire tenure. Andy Avalos' first class was #1 last year and they'll compete with San Diego State for #1 in the current class as well.

The point is, it's a lot easier to steer a built ship and continue to outrecruit schools like Utah State and Colorado State than it is to come into the lions den that is the SEC and try to compete against the monsters that reside here. When you combine #1 recruiting in the MWC with his hardass team-building and philosophy of "hard work", it's not hard to see 9-10 win seasons as an easy expectation.

What he's shown at Auburn so far suggests that he either doesn't have the stomach for how hard you have to recruit in this conference, or he thought it was going to be a hell of a lot easier than it turned out to be. That's probably because he had it pretty easy drawing talent to Boise State given their name reputation.

This will ultimately make or break him, because just "working hard" doesn't cut it in the SEC. Alabama and Georgia work hard too, the difference is that they're doing it with twice as much talent.

The concern is that Harsin seems to still not have much urgency in recruiting. His demeanor suggests that he's going to go down doing it his way, and he doesn't seem to want to take help. So at this point we're going to need to win big with what we have, and hope that it can translate to recruiting.

Exactly …probably was not totally true but it was spoken about here a whole lot …as if it was plausible. Hell it even seemed like Steele thought he had a shot, not to mention several articles mentioned him as a viable candidate along with others.

4) Dabo did it with one of the weakest schedules every year vs a historically watered down ACC.

CBH has to navigate a brutal schedule in the strongest division of the toughest conference in the nation and his two main rivals appear to have planted themselves on the top of the mountain of CFB.

Give Harsin the same parameters Dabo has had it's all but guaranteed he'd be fine easing through the regular season with little to no wear and tear on his team and he'd have a roster with fresh legs by the time the CFP rolled around.

Pretty much been saying this forever , yet we have the same talking points , over and over and over lol. Don’t think we will know much or see any significant change to we see what the results yield. I will say for 90 percent of teams this is accurate, for example,  let’s see if UTENN keeps that QB if they suck this year .

Beating Alabama does that.

Boise State had largely faded back into obscurity. Not necessarily Harsin's fault (not completely at least) but it just wasn't going to have the clout with recruits that one who doesn't have experience with the region needs to have.

100% wrong. It's 10 times easier to get to the top than it is to stay at the top.

Possibly. I'm sure getting recruits to sign on at Boise was totally different than the SEC. But, he came here with COVID and no contact (including visiting HS coaches in state), no NIL, and his 2 biggest money boys working against him because they were BUTTHURT about the choice of HC.  Hopefully, he is figuring that out and can get it corrected.

No argument, but he did produce against the giants when it counted.

Either way, Harsin will either win and recruit how he needs to or he won't. I hope we give him at least 3 years to see how it goes, unless this year is a total disaster both on the field and off the field with recruiting. I hope he succeeds, but if he doesn't and we decide to go a different direction I hope the new president puts a foot up the Cowboy's and Big Business man's ass and punts them as far away from the next coaching search as possible. Drain the damn swamp.
