Class of 2025 set to be another big one for the state of Alabama

The Class of 2023 is heralded as one of the best in Alabama history for its talent at the top with multiple 247Sports Composite 5-stars and 22 Composite 4-stars. Star power at the top and deep. While right now projections have the 2024 class a little lower for Alabama, the 2025 class appears to be right on pace with the 2023 class in terms of top talent.

On Wednesday 247Sports released its initial Top 100 rankings and Alabama had seven players make the list, which was the fifth most of any state behind just Florida (16), California (14), Texas (13) and Georgia (10).

Still very, very early out, 247Sports' Gabe Brooks describes the rankings: "Yes, thinking of this exercise as more of a "watch list" than a hard-and-fast sequential ranking is a good idea; after all, beyond the top 12 players, every prospect on the list (deservingly) boasts an initial four-star 90 rating (those top 12 range from 91 to 93)."

Here's a quick look at the seven players from the state of Alabama to make the initial list:

ZION GRADY (NO. 4)

Near the very top of the rankings and the top in-state player, Zion Grady is a name Auburn fans may already be familiar with. The sophomore edge rusher camped at Auburn back in June and shined, earning an offer. It was one of his first offers, and it meant a lot.

“It was big,” Grady said about landing the offer. “Very big. It meant a lot. I’ve got to stay on track.”

Auburn wasn't the only school to pick up on the Charles Henderson product, with Tennessee hosting him for a visit at the end of July and offering him.

Grady is already listed at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds.

JARED SMITH (NO. 5)

Offered by Auburn back in May, Spain Park's Jared Smith didn't stay a secret for very long. The edge rusher picked up offers from LSU and Georgia in June, on top of his offers from Auburn, Miami, Tennesse and others he previously held.

Smith is listed at 6-foot-6, 230 pounds as he begins his sophomore season.

ANQUON FEGANS (NO. 7)

The third top-10 recruit in the rankings for the state of Alabama, Anquon Fegans is the younger brother of Class of 2022 Alabama signee Trequon Fegans and Class of 2020 Arkansas State signee Antwon Fegans Jr.

Getting varsity reps as a freshman at Thompson, Anquon has early offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Oregon, Texas A&M and plenty more big-name schools. Auburn has not offered yet.

A safety at Thompson, Anquon is listed at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds.

DERICK SMITH (NO. 15)

Highlighted by Auburn247's Jason Caldwell as one of the best playmakers in the state recently, Southside's Derick Smith checks in at No. 15 as a wide receiver, but certainly could end up at safety at the next level.

Alabama, Georgia and Michigan are three of his biggest offers right now, currently holding eight.

Smith is listed at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds.

RYAN WILLIAMS (NO. 25)

Another player Jason has highlighted recently, the son of former Auburn cornerback Ryan Williams, the younger Ryan Williams out of Saraland is the No. 25 prospect in the class. Williams holds double-digit offers already including Alabama and Florida State.

Williams is listed at 6-foot, 155 pounds and qualified for the 6A state championship in the 100- and 200-meter events in track.

ANTHONY ROGERS (NO. 65)

A Pike Road running back offered by Auburn dating all the way back to Sept. 2021, Anthony Rogers' offer list is already massive. Like Williams, Rogers runs track and qualified for the state championship at the 5A level as a freshman.

Rogers is listed at 5-foot-8, 180 pounds.

MICAH DEBOSE (NO. 84)

The final Alabama player in the Top 100 is a big one — C F Vigor's Micah Debose. An offensive tackle that Auburn offered back in April, Georgia, Michigan and Ole Miss are some of the other big early offers for Debose. As a freshman Debose started at left tackle and was a key part of Vigor's 4A state title.

Debose is already listed at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds.

Hopefully CBH will get this ship heading in the right direction this year with some signature wins. If we can have a good season and continue with building relationships for the next two classes it will bode well for Auburn’s Alabama recruiting footprint.

I don't want to come across negative - BUT what are parents feeding these kids?

HS Sophomore's  at 6'4"-6'6" weighing in at 230-315 lbs takes a lot of groceries.
