Haha Your first two examples both won a national championship at their second schools.

And? Do you want the next coach at Auburn to have 1 good year and then burn the place to the ground?

Then why did the team finish 6-2 after they canned him, including a win over #5 Stanford? Yet to open the season they beat Utah State by a field goal and lost to Washington State and ASU. Y’all can spin it as many ways as you want. It doesn’t work.

LSU lost to Florida State to start the season and got trounced by Tennessee 5 weeks later giving them a 4-2 record. Now they’re 7-2, 1st in the West and ranked 7th in the country. Sometimes a team gels and continues to improve as the season progresses.

And you’re saying that’s what happened at USC? That Kiffin was wrongly let go JUST before they got it together as a team?

And I don’t want to be looking for another coach in 4 years. How about we get a guy that will compete for championships for the next 10-20 years?

I’m not saying that, just as it can’t be said with 100% certainty that the only reason they finished 6-2 was BECAUSE he was let go.

LMAO. What would you attribute that to Viper? Almost as if the previous coach left the program in shambles.

What would you attribute what Bowden did his last four seasons at FSU (7.5 win average), which Jimbo completely resurrected (10.4 win average)?

Can't have your double standards. Gotta pick one.

It’s not a double standard. Jimbo took a program that had made a bowl for 36 straight years and by the time he left he’d gutted them to the point that they STILL haven’t recovered.

I'm not a Kiffin fan, but the fact that you think we should make an offer to Dabo Swinney, who has a made career at a place he's already won a national title and has everything already in place for recruiting, development, etc, almost disqualifies your argument from consideration.

Pretty sure everyone here wants that. The disagreement is upon whom that guy might be.

You been asleep the last couple years? Lincoln Riley left OKLAHOMA. Brian Kelly left USC. Jimbo Fisher left FLORIDA STATE. All for traditionally lateral or lesser programs in much worse shape than the ones they left.

Auburn is traditionally a much better job than Clemson. And we’re in the SEC.

Is it likely Dabo would come to Auburn? No. Is it possible? In this era of college football, absolutely.

The only SEC school Dabo has interest in right now is the one in Tuscaloosa. If UAT snubs him when Nickie retires, Dabo might have some interest in Auburn or another SEC program or two. But that's down the road, unless wheels come off at Clemson.

There is only one team Dabo would leave Clemson to go and coach.   Don’t believe anything anyone says, it’s all hogwash.   I don’t care about traditional this or that, Clemson is a better program right now and it’s really not close.

I don’t *love* Freeze either and it’s strictly because of baggage. But he never sank a program on the field. Paying players is legal now so I don’t think that’ll be an issue at Auburn.

But you would take Freeze over Kiffin? You would rather have a known cheater who caused a university to loose scholarships and go on probation, who still actively is doing shady 💩 over a coach that has successfully revived the program at 2 different universities? Back to back 10 win seasons( projected this year) at freaking ole miss? Didn’t even happen when Eli Manning was there! Did Freeze accomplish that feat nope. Instead he was stripped of wins for? Paying players and helping players pass exams to get into college. Let’s not mention the prostitues for 17-18 year old kids… But you don’t want Kiffin because he failed at USC and tweets?

I believe Feeze us better choice than Kiffin also mostly due to costs. Have you tead his existing contract? He will easily make @8m this year due to incentives. He will command at least 10/ year and then incentives on top I bet.

Freeze will be the cheaper choice but I just cannot get over his past, and I don’t believe there are many of the ones doing the hiring can either. There are just too many coaches out here that doesn’t have that type of baggage. It’s not like he had a BBQ and then panicked and lied to the NCAA or something

To be fair and a bit more accurate in regards to Freeze, that system at Ole Miss was set up by Nutt and they had been operating that way before Freeze got there.  It worked better under Freeze cause players actually did want to play for him so he caught some bigger fish.   But let’s not act like what they were doing there wasn’t being done at every single SEC school.  Freeze just stepped on Bama and UGA’s toes with it which is what got him caught.

You maybe correct in that. It probably comes down to how long before he is considered a prudent risk. I still don’t believe it will be Kiffin due to excessive salary requirements,

What 2 programs did Kiffin revive?

And also - you’ve got some stuff seriously mixed up. The escort service was for HIM, not kids he was recruiting. That doesn’t exactly make it “better”. But it’s a whole different moral implication. It’s not Louisville basketball.
