Just Actually it might be harder to find one who hasn't lied. At least Santos admitted it.

He got caught red handed. That’s not “admitting it.”

Not really my business since he doesn't represent me, but he tricked and manipulated his constituents and I hope they petition for a new election based on his admission of being dishonest. There is no place for an admitted liar in our government.

You pay his salary.

Is it against the law for politicians to lie?

In April of this year, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that politicians can lie during political campaigns. In Susan B. Anthony List v. Driehaus, the Court ruled a politician’s right to lie during a campaign is protected under the free speech provision of the First Amendment.

There is no excuse. He’s accountable for it. But it doesn’t compare to the wholesale fabrication of this dude.

That's what i'm not getting about these people on here countering Santos'  entire fake history he made for himself with comparisons to Democrats who have told a few inconsequential lies in talks they've given, and pretending these are the same exact situations.

Yes, I agree lying is bad...Democrats shouldn't lie and if they do...even about little things,,,Dems need to be called out for it, but the comparing them to what Santos has done is just intellectually dishonest IMO.

Congress has the power to expel him if, once he is seated, they choose to do so. Typically it's done for criminal behavior (Traficant being the last one I remember).

If there weren't any actionable election irregularities, I don't think there's any recourse to seating him.

I'd feel slimy having gotten into office on the back of known lies, but he is apparently and obviously unencumbered by that.

The best we can hope for at this point is that he will step down on his own and a replacement be appointed.

LOL they are finding more, new, lies by Santos.

https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/28/politics/george-santos-false-claims-kfile/index.html

Quote

Rep.-elect George Santos made additional false claims over the years about his family history, work history and education in campaign appearances over the years, a review of statements made in two of his campaigns for Congress found.

CNN’s KFile uncovered more falsehoods from Santos, including claims he was forced to leave a New York City private school when his family’s real estate assets took a downturn and stating he represented Goldman Sachs at a top financial conference where he berated the company for investing in renewables.

CNN also reviewed more instances of Santos providing additional false history of his family’s background. In one interview, Santos said his mother’s family’s historical Jewish name was “Zabrovsky,” and later appeared to operate a GoFundMe campaign for a pet charity (which he falsely claimed was a 501(c)(3) nonprofit) under that alias. Genealogists CNN previously spoke with found no evidence of Jewish or Ukrainian heritage in his family tree.

In another, he said his mother, whose family has lived in Brazil since the late 1800s, was a White immigrant from Belgium.

Santos’ campaign did not respond to CNN’s comment request.

Since reports first surfaced about his false claims, Santos has made efforts to downplay his fabrications as mere “embellishments.” But the previously unreported claims from Santos illustrate a pattern of fabricating details about his life, often in service of presenting a more compelling or interesting personal narrative

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On Twitter he's also claimed 2 different dates for his mothers death. One tweet claiming she died in the 9/11 attack, and another tweet saying she died Dec. 23, 2016

r/PoliticalHumor - This guy lies.

No guys...every politician does not lie like this.

Once again you missed the point.  I don't give a damn what party he's in.    I've said several times kick them all out if they've lied.

But you seem to want this gut out for lying only because he's a Republican.

That’s not the point most of us are seeing. Most everyone lies. Few people fabricate their life story. There’s no equivalent that I know of to what this guy has done. And Trump lied like most people breath, but you didn’t want him to resign for it.

. I was just posting a meme because one of Santos's big defenses for why he shouldn't be punished is because he didn't "commit a crime" , and then you follow up links about it

I don't believe that's true. If he was a Democrat then I'd be all for his removal. This is egregious lying on a level that very few other politicians have ever been caught doing. This isn't a normal level of political fabrication like you keep inferring it is. Like TexasTiger said, I can't think of any other Republican or Democrat who has made up so many parts of his life and story so often like Santos has.

Look through my post history if you want. I go against bad Democrats. I was for the removal of Cuomo, I don't have anything good to say about hunter Biden other than I'm glad he's not in government. If any Dem gets caught lying on the level Santos has I'd be trashing that clown too.

So lying is okay but only to a certain level.  How do you keep score on that?

And I'm not the one wetting my drawers because of this guys lies.

I've said from the start kick them all out.

Ohhh yeah nor have I seen you wanting Biden kicked out for lying.  And he's been  a serial liar for his 50+ years in government.

Like I said, I think it’s very fitting that Republicans add this guy to all the crazies as their face to the public.

A scorecard I developed. Patent pending.

Small white lies are 1 point.

political lies are 2 points

lying in a speech is 3 points

lying in a resume or on your website is 5 points

if you tell multiple lies at the same time you add +10 to the final score as a punishment.

At the end total 1-4 is a nonissue.

5-10 needs an apology

11-30 is a serious issue that needs disapline and addressing

31-50 needs serious internal punishment

51+ You need to resign from office or be kicked out

1000+ points and you are Donald Trump and get elected as President.

Cawthorn from NC didn’t make through the primaries and will no longer be a Representative come January.  The consequences of electing crazies.  Boebert and Greene are equivalent to the squad. You have blinders on.  I’m not sure how Santos will be handled in the House, but he won’t make it out of the primaries if he lasts that long.

So Biden and Trump def should go.

Question:  Does 1 lie told repeated by 50000 news outlets count as 1 or 50000? Let me know when you are approved and there is written discrimination for the types of lies. That will be fun. And that's no lie.

IMO Cawthorne only lost because of the photos of him in drag and naked humping another man in bed more than for anything else, and he only lost the primary by less than 2% of the vote. Take out the lgbtq vibes and I think Madison would still be a GOP politician.

I also disagree that the squad' is equal to boebert and MTG. I disagree with the squad on a lot of topics but they are generally educated and intelligent people. liking socialism isn't equivalent to "jewish space lazers!"

You’re making excuses for Republicans now??!!??  He lost in the primaries is all that counts.  We are talking NC here, even though he represents the Asheville district (NC’s hippie district) he was not going to represent the Republicans in that district.

The squad are antisemitic, brother marrying, American Socialist that don’t have a clue how to make a living outside of politics.  Those are your crazies.

I agree at least one member of the squad has made anti-sematic statements and those are 100% inappropriate and she was/should be called out for it. Unacceptable.

The rest of your accusation is just standard Republican propaganda that have no facts to back them up.

The original members of the 'squad' are highly educated individuals who came from hardworking immigrant families.. They helped  to raise their families, got college educations and in some cases advanced degrees, worked in various roles early in their careers such as as bartenders, teachers, entrepreneurs, etc. and then worked their way up through the political ranks.

They've all held jobs and careers outside of politics before. This is all public information.

I'd trust a "socialist" who has lived in the real world and struggled and has to do real work over a Capitalist who Inherited their wealth from family and have had all their opportunities handed to them on a platter.
