Sounds like we'll need to put some weight on him or get suspenders on him to keep his shorts up.

AU hoops gets another commit

With the fall signing period just five weeks away, Auburn basketball coach Jeff Lebo and his assistants have been working especially hard on the recruiting trail.

Those efforts are paying off.

Monday, AU added its third commitment in five days: Charlotte, N.C., small forward Kenny Gabriel.

The 6-foot-8, 197-pound Gabriel, rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, made an official visit to AU last weekend

"I like the situation there and it’s a good environment," Gabriel told Auburnsports.com. "It’s a good place I can play. I got a lot of pressure off my back now."

Gabriel averaged 17 points, eight rebounds and two blocks as a junior at Charlotte’s United Faith Academy. He chose AU over scholarship offers from Miami, South Florida, Charlotte and Winthrop, among others.

Gabriel is Auburn’s fourth verbal commitment for this year’s recruiting class, which will arrive on campus in the summer of 2008.

Last week, Lebo landed commitments from two players from Okaloosa-Walton Community College in

Florida. At 6-foot-2, shooting guard Tay Waller averaged 18.3 points per game as a freshman last season at Okaloosa-Walton; 6-foot-9 power forward Kenny Lett averaged 2.9 points and 4.2 rebounds last year. Waller chose AU over a scholarship offer from UAB; Lett had an offer from Georgia State.

R.C. Hatch point guard Frankie Sullivan committed to the Tigers in September.
