Auburn beat Mercer 10-4 on Tuesday.

Matt Hall and Justin Hargett both hit the first home runs of their respective Auburn careers during a five-run second inning that propelled the Auburn baseball team to a 10-4 win over Mercer on Tuesday night at Plainsman Park.

Freshman Trent Mummey was the sparkplug for the Auburn offense from the leadoff spot, going 4-for-5 with a triple and four runs scored as Auburn improved to 15-9.

Sanders' Slam Lifts Auburn Past Samford, 14-6 on Wednesday

Joseph Sanders' second career grand slam capped an eight-run fourth inning as the Auburn baseball team posted a 14-6 win over Samford on Wednesday night at Regions Park (Hoover). Matt Hall continued his torrid pace at the plate, finishing the night 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and three runs scored as Auburn upped its record to 16-9.

Sanders' slam landed just inside the foul pole down the line in left for his second career grand slam and second home run of the 2008 season. It capped what was Auburn's highest-scoring inning of the season so far as Auburn scored on four hits, two errors and two walks to take a 10-3 lead heading to the home half of the fourth.

I looked at the SEC standings in the paper and Auburn isn't in that bad of shape looking at the West division. What is wrong with Miss. State? They are 1-5 in SEC play and below .500.
