Alabama goes west to land highly regarded offensive lineman

By Gentry Estes, Mobile Press-Register

With last season's national title in tow, it appears there are no geographical recruiting boundaries right now for Alabama's football program.

Offensive lineman Issac Luatua of La Mirada, Calif., committed today to the Crimson Tide. Luatua is 6-foot-2, nearly 300 pounds and is rated by Rivals.com as the nation's No. 8 center prospect for 2011.

"I called Coach (Nick) Saban this morning and told him I'm all Alabama," Luatua told Scout.com in this update. "I want to play for Coach Saban. He's a winner, tough, hard nosed, preaches toughness and discipline. ... I don't care about depth charts. I'm going to Alabama and the tradition, fan support and the academics were all the determing factor in my decision. I'm going to give everything I got to the University of Alabama and to the state of Alabama."
