This news got me so fired up. Even if he never regains his previous form, just the fact that the kid was able to participate in a single football practice after what he's been through... MAN.

Great plug, too, for the twitterers. Totally agreed.

Ace Atkins needs to buy the rights to this story. Hopefully he can write a detective novel about an unsolved mugging in the Iron Bowl. Just glad to see this young man continuing his journey.

He never played a down, shouldn't he gave 4 years of it?

He has used one regular redshirt year. One year he just didn't play. With five years to play four, he currently has three years left.

AFTER his senior year, he can apply to play his fourth year. That's how it worked with Aaron Savage. In Shon's case there is little doubt that he will be approved for a fourth year of playing time, but he has to wait until after his regular eligibility is used up to apply for it.

For reals ? As in, actually true , no foolin' he's back ?

WOW!

I mean, sure, I knew that was the hope, the plan and all, but to actually GET to this point... geeze. That's wicked awesome !

What's the word on his weight ? I know he'd never be out there if he wasn't in at least fair football shape. I gotta think , as long as he's able to stick w/ it, he'll continue to get bigger and stronger. I mean, most players always do , as they continue to grow and weight train ? I don't see why he'd not match his previous form, and even get better, over time.

Shon will redshirt in 2012. He'll have 4 to play 4. Auburn has had special clearance from the NCAA to have him on campus. He's been in the weight room during that time, but not working out with the team. Shon is going to be a man among boys in 2013. I believe he is officially being counted as a member of the 2012 signing class.

I hope that's right, it would take a special ruling for him to sit out 2012 and still play four after that.
