Auburn Looks To Snap Losing Streak Against Samford On Tuesday

Recommended Posts

The Auburn baseball team will attempt to snap a

season-worst three-game losing streak on Tuesday evening when it heads

to Samford’s Griffin Field for a 6pm CT contest. Auburn comes into the

contest 15-8 on the year while Samford is 7-14 and is also looking to

snap a slide of its own after losing three straight to the College of

Charleston last weekend in Birmingham.

Auburn will send Fr. RHP Dexter Price 3-0, 3.86) to the hill on Tuesday

while Samford will counter with Fr. RHP Josh Martin (0-2, 9.22).

Freshman infielder Casey McElroy has been swinging a hot stick for

Auburn of late, quietly piecing together a five-game hitting streak,

with three straight multi-hit games over the last three days, going

6-for-12 with two doubles and two runs scored against Arkansas. Since

the beginning of March the everyday shortstop has hit .368 with a .702

slugging percentage to bring his average up to .296.

Auburn will depart from Plainsman Park a little earlier than usual on

Tuesday as the team will stop at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital

prior to the game, spending an hour visiting patients in the hospital.

Auburn will also play an away game on Wednesday, traveling to Troy for a

6pm first pitch on Wednesday.

The team has also announced that it has added a game to its schedule to

replace the game it lost due to snow with then-No. 5 Florida State on

Sunday, March 1. In its place, Auburn will play Bethune-Cookman College

on Wednesday, April 8, at 6pm at Plainsman Park.

Tuesday’s game will air on WMXA-FM 96.7 in the Auburn-Opelika area and
