wardon1345162806 0
Any way AU can rekindle the recruiting of top dogs in Columbus GA? Who is asst for that area, and are there still hard feelings about the Furr INCIDENT? Can DELL MCGEE help send studs to AU, or is he not close with Chiz?? Two big stars in Columbus for 2011. 312234 0
DeRon Furr. Wow. That was the incident that truly started Tubb's decline.
Legacy Tiger1345162832 0
Dell is all Auburn... but Columbus isn't. We trail UGA and F$U historically.... But that UGA mishape early in the recruiting season may have opened a few doors....
smithsaufan1345162789 1
Tiger Prowl needs to go to Columbus next year too then.
bzlivn 0
Scoot down the street across the river. Columbus is more like an Alabama annex.
solideagle 0
I would like us to raid florida a little more. It's harder now though with miami coming back and even the smaller schools like usf coming up.
Auburn Alumni 0
I am from Columbus/Phenix City. Its evenly mixed between UA, AU, and UGA fans. We should be plucking every top recruit out of the area, no excuse.
Jackson-Sullivan 0
I am from Columbus, too, and there are plenty of Auburn people here. Lots of Auburn and Georgia fans and the turds, for the most part, are in Phenix City, although a great number have magically appeared out of the woodworks here in the last year or so. Surprise, surprise! There is lots of talent here but a majority of it is of the 1-aa, div. 2 variety. There is some real talent at Carver right now, though. Usually there are two schools, Shaw and Carver (although Shaw is down right now), where you will find 1-a talent, with a few here and there from the other schools. Our coaches are well aware of the talent here and I'm sure will be working hard to build relationships. You have to remember, these guys are still new around here and relationships are the key. wardon1345162806 0
Per you Columbus guys, is it correct to say AU will not land either of the two star recruits from ur town for 2011 Class? I know UAT is hard on getting them both-
WarAmericanEagle 0
There is always talent in Columbus and we never get them. I think we should assign one or two coaches to recruit the area. Is Gabe Wright the DT for 2011 from Columbus because he is a monster and would be a great pickup.
Jackson-Sullivan 0
All I can say is from what I am hearing they will be on it and giving it their best. They have a shot with anybody they go after, imo. they are that good.
Guest WarTiger
The upcoming season is going to tell alot about the Columbus area recruiting over the next few year. Richt might have a sinking ship at UGA, which could push kids to AU.

gravejd 3,269
Yeah I definitly remember Chizik pointing out that that area was going to be an area of focus for the coaching staff. May take a while to actually get relationships built and kids coming though. As far as Deron goes, it seems like there was a fight at a practice and then he transfered shortly after that. Maybe somebody else has more details.
