In fairness, they didn't have a lot of booster support, so I think they reverted to their small school thought process because they were fighting such an uphill battle. That hire was an unmitigated disaster from beginning to end. I blame Allen Greene.

Absolutely!  Allen Greene set the program back years.  Just think of where it would be if Freeze had been hired when Greene brought us Coach Arson (Freudian slip).

  2. The bookies jobs are to equalize the bets on both sides of the line.  That’s how Vegas makes money.  The impression based on the off season noise is that Auburn won’t be very good.  They are not analyzing anything but the perception.

Players leaving who were starters/regulars at their old school. What the devil do they want? A guaranteed position with no competition?

The human brain (particularly the prefrontal cortex that controls cognitive ability) does not mature until the mid 20’s.  These kids are simply not playing with all their marbles when they are making these decisions.  They have not learned that the grass is not always greener.

Cobb would be most devastating to me personally.

I hope he wouldn’t consider it.  He is going to get touches this year like he did last year then he will likely be the starter next year.  That gives him a year to really show his stuff before hitting the pros as a top draft pick and not a worn out one.  These guys who want to start at RB for 3-4 years in college are looking at it all wrong.  You don’t want to take 3-4 years of beating and injuries in college.  Get one good year in showing your best stuff then get top money in the draft.  NIL changes the dynamic somewhat but what they stand to get in college is not much compared to the $20-40 million contracts top RBs are getting in the pros.

  5. Dan Mullen is a whiny bi**h who proved he can’t recruit worth a crap at Florida.  How could any head coach worth anything go to Florida with all their resources and fall flat on his face?  Auburn hates him he lied about Cam and tried to derail our undefeated season and run toward the NC.  MSU hates him he left them for the “big time” at Florida.  Florida hates him he ran their program into a ditch they have had a very hard time getting out of.  When he was OC at Florida he had Tebow.  When he was HC and OC at MSU he had Dak.  Otherwise he’s never done crap.

How about the SEC allowing Bear Bryant to schedule an extra SEC game back in the late sixties-early seventies?

In 1972 Auburn, and Alabama both lost only one SEC game, and Auburn beat Alabama on the field, yet the Turds wind up as SEC champions because they finished 7-1 while Auburn finished 6-1.

    Another of their mythical titles.

And the extra game was always somebody like Vandy or Kentucky, never Georgia or Florida.

  7. It just seems like when they get to the big dance they can’t wait for the first opportunity to sh** the bed.  It doesn’t matter who the opponent is.  When one team can’t make a free throw while the other team can’t wait for the chance to get to the foul line because they know it’s a gimme for them the result it predictable.  Bruce needs to take his next team to a different gym every week to do nothing but shoot free throws.

I personally think 17-16 game was greatest Auburn game ever. That D was so good and to block not one but two punts and return both for TD's that will be imprinted in my brain forever.

My first year as an Auburn student and we were stomping on those old metal bleachers on the east side of Legion Field when Bama lined up to punt.   Then just as the ball was snapped it got quiet and I can still hear the sound of Greg Gant’s foot hitting the ball, the ball hitting Bill Newton’s hands then the ball hitting the turf.  Three distinctive thuds in quick succession.  And then the whole thing happened again a few minutes later.  As we walked out of the stadium this redneck was hollering “Auburn ain’t sh**” over and over and we were laughing at him.  I’m an old man now but I will never forget it!

  9. I don’t claim to have any information about why he would leave but this just makes me sick.  I hope he had a fantastic offer from somewhere that he couldn’t refuse.  This is like Aubie resigning.

On kickoff, I have no idea why anyone returns any more. Most of what can happen is bad... Tackled short of the 25, penalty (which is very common), someone gets hurt. I would call fair catch or down it in the end zone every time. Very few times does anyone get past the 25 without a problem, and it's not just us it's everyone. STOP trying to run it back!

I agree with that 100%.  Half the time we get a block in the back or a hold and end up starting at the 10 instead of the 25.  Then every now and then we get a fumble because you get harder hits when the defenders and the returner are running fast in opposite directions and that is infinitely worse.  Rarely do we get past the 25.  If the kick comes down at the 10 then fine run it back.  If it comes down inside the 10 then take it at the 25.  Never run it out of the end zone.

  11. I can’t defend today.  The team wasn’t prepared to play AT ALL. That’s on the coaching staff.  The O line was horrible as they have been several times this year.  The D backfield might need to be cut a little slack because of the opt outs.  The the terrible pick 6 was on the QB but he was getting the hell beat out of him because of the lack of blocking.  Running backs couldn’t get back to the line of scrimmage without getting the hell knocked out of them.  O line again.  Two fumbles by the special teams is inexcusable.  Just a pitiful, pitiful performance.  Right up there with NMSU.  Inexcusable for an Auburn football team.

  12. O line is a hot mess today.  I don’t who the QB is it’s not gonna work with them playing like that.  They can’t run block and they can’t pass block.  Pitiful.  We know we have quality running backs and they can’t get past the line of scrimmage without getting clobbered.  QB I’d under pressure immediately.
