Passing wise, I would like to see Gus focus on getting the ball to players in space, or on the move rather than on the bomb play. It's pretty clear through the past three seasons that it's still not the best strategy when the running game isn't happening. Everyone knows the gameplans now.

Impact plays can happen other than the 50/50 ball or the low percentage turnover bomb.

The problem is and has been the lack of a good passing game in CGMs offense, at least from his time at AU.  As previously mentioned, there never seems to be intermediate routes, or we see a play action with a 1 or 2 WR route, where he is hoping to catch them peaking in or set it up from previous plays.  We don't see any sort of stacked level route trees or combo routes mixed into his offense.  Like Stat said in the MSU game we saw much more of a mix of the pass/run and some short and intermediate passing plays, but it hasn't continued.  UF was stacking the line and coming at Nix, but it seems and has always seemed the QB isn't allowed to make a check to a hot route.  It all seems insane from a supposed OC genius.

might have been a one-route option

This is beyond baffling to me.

Anyone watching LSU's O this year??  Brand new O they installed this off season, complex routes and plays.  Granted, i know there's a difference in an experienced QB vs. a true freshman QB, but still they put in a whole new O and they are clicking right off the bat.

AU has a veteran OL, who couldn't handle Tulane in the trenches, and now thin at WR, or at least a possible lack of experience.

Ohhh, and why are we throwing a deep route to a WR with a freaking cast on one hand?!?

Two of our recruits in this class are considered top 25 players. Taylon Snow is probably the jewel of the class. She hit .438 with 10 HRs and an .846 slugging percentage. But Livy Schiele, who plays on the same travel team as Taylon (OC Batbusters), hit .611 this season and had 35 stolen bases. I think both of these players can come in and make an immediate impact.

    WOW! :Sing:

That's a girl that knows how to hit.  That's an insane hitting %

Unfortunately that cuts both ways. Our offensive performance against the big boys in our conference and Clemson is pretty dismal. Against the top half of the western conference, UGA from the east and Clemson, yielded us less than 400 yds total offensive in every single one of those games.

BUT, when the AU O was healthy and against not so good D (OU's D is not that good people), then AU put up HUGE numbers and controlled games b/c of the stout D.  Granted OU has a legit offense that will challenge the AU D, so it could still be a shoot out type game, but I think a dominant run game by AU will ice it down the stretch.

AU had 399 yards (236 rushing, 163 passing) against TAMU, 388 against LSU (154 rushing, 234 passing); 432 against MSU (228 rushing, 204 passing); 632 against Arky (543 rushing, 89 passing); 554 against Ole Miss (307 rushing, 247 passing); 386 against VU (271 rushing, 115 passing); 164 against UGA (127 rushing, 37 passing); and 182 against bama (66 rushing, 116 passing)

I'd say injuries cost the UGA and bama games, as with Pettway and White, AU wins both of those.  The first 3 games AU was trying to find the identity on O, we know about Clemson QB carousel, and just starting to figure it out in the TAMU and LSU games, although it didn't matter against TAMU, Knight and company were on fire.  upper 300s total O isn't awful, but not exactly stellar either.  I put OU's D on par with MSU, Arky, Ole Miss and think AU should be able to effectively move the ball and score, provided that SW and CP are fully healthy.

Finally got around to starting Westworld. Watched 6 episodes yesterday. Fantastic show, I think it tops my previous favorite of the year, Stranger Things.

Dude, wait til the season finale.  It was last night and it is awesome.  This is one of the BEST shows I have ever seen.  Each episode you don't want it to end.  Very intriguing storyline with the twists and turns.

  6. Saw Upstate play year in year out for 7 years while working at Lipscomb University.  You can count on them being a good ball team and one to not take for granted.  They were the A-Sun tourney runner ups last year.  AU will have to play some ball, but as you said AU should win it.  Could be closer than we want.

I actually believed that if we wanted/needed Sean to sit out this week, Jeremy would have been the better option to keep more of our offensive package in. Especially if John is that inaccurate. The risk vs reward with John running the offense appears to be too great of a risk at this point. Give him a few plays here and there for change of pace but that's it.

I think its hard to say that when he has only been allowed to throw very few times, 4 times in that first half against Vandy.  He was 2 for 4, one was dropped.  It comes across to me much more like there isn't much trust from the coaching staff or they didn't think they needed to throw that much, and we didn't on those drives.  If not for the fumble AU is up 14-3 the way the O was moving just running the ball.  No way JJ needs to be put back out there.

Alex Kozan continues to perform at a very high level on the offensive line. One of the reasons Auburn’s zone blocking is working so well inside is that the linemen are finding the right defender as they execute. Kozan is doing that exceptionally well.

How about him blocking two defenders on that goal line run??  One of them (on the inside) did make the tackle on the RB (KJ?) right at the goal line but b/c of Kozan he was off balance and the RB was able to get across the goal line.

  9. If you like the slightly risque, action, drama type stuff, check out Banshee.  It was on Showtime.  I think they did 4 seasons.  I hated the way they ended it and that they ended it.

    I've been enjoying Ballers too.

I have been told that Ruffin and Roberts were looking good in the back end.

I think the defense will be a surprise around the league.  Everyone knows about our D-line, but we have upgraded every other open position.

Yea, I think the D is gonna be a LOT better.  Obviously the DL is solid with good depth, the DBs really came on in the later part of the year.  The addition of Neal to the LB corp is a huge help and with Williams and Holland, we should see payoffs from that position,

  11. I found this mini helmet out side someones house who had moved and posted up on craigslist that they left stuff behind because they were moving. I think it may have a lot of value but cannot find the same item on the net to compare it. And I cannot figure out whos signature this is. Could some please tell me if you recognize the signature and who it is. And how much this Schutt Auburn Tigers Mini Helmet may be worth. You can email me at kid_creation@msn.com I check that every day. I won't be checking this everyday though. How ever I will come back here and delete this after I get the info I need. Thanks
