  1. This is so new, it may take some time for it to be thoroughly evaluated. It seems much like "free agency" in the NFL. With amounts like $5 mil being thrown around, this is some serious money. I believe the mommas and Daddies are going to focus on the money and even the top players may enter the portal each year just to benefit from the bidding. The top players will not have to worry about losing their scholarships. Players may eventually have agents who handle all of this, just like coaches. For the most part, education has been taken off the table, as it may already have been for some time now. This has "officially" become minor league football. Its just too early to tell how this will evolve. Over time I believe it may level the playing field for a greater number of teams who have the finances and player network. The NCAA created the term "armature athletics" to justify its existences. That's official over now and new challenges will keep eroding their power. This has shined a light on and exposed the underpinnings of what may have been unofficially happening over the past decades where getting caught was the true sin.
  2. Well I was hoping Matt Luke might be in the picture.
  3. I think the idea is to expand the universe to improve the probability of having the best team included. Remember in 2014, Fla St. was rated #1 and Bama was #2. In prior years they would have played for the National Championship. However in that year, Ohio State back into the #4 slot and won the Championship. Fla State lost to Oregon and Bama lost to Ohio State, all in the first round.
  4. This is better than I ever could have imagined. Can we ultimately become a recruiting dynamo that takes away from the likes of UGA, UA, LSU, and really becomes annoying to their little club?
  5. Even if we don't bring in another QB, we have a lot of material for Freeze to work with. I would think our stable of QBs are giddy about their situation. They were in a seemingly hopeless situation and suddenly may just have hit the jackpot. Can't remember us having a better situation in the last 10 years.
  6. I will simply trust Freeze's judgement until he proves otherwise. Most of these names mean nothing to me. I'm all in until I'm not. Took me awhile to realize Gus had topped out and then Harsin was just not the right coach for us. My real problem is I don't trust my judgement on these detailed coaching matters. Have been saved from myself way too many times. WDE!
  7. I believe he is a very good FB coach. It seems to always come down to a few, and only a few, coaches who would even consider AU. Instead of us paring down the list of candidates, its the candidates who eliminate us from consideration. Until we can change the reality of our situation, this is who we are. Freeze hopefully will be that guy. Its done and I'm ready to let him shape my perception of him as a coach and person. Cannot forget his past but can forgive. Paying players has finally been moved above the table instead of acting like its a crime only if you get caught. Commitment to family is another matter. If his family is okay, then I am okay.
  8. We have so many mixed emotions with Freeze, Kiffin, and Sanders. Assuming its none of these, then who would have the resume to turn our program around that actually might take this job?
  9. Would you want to wait and see if anyone is better before making the jump? Not much to go on with proven production yet.
  10. Remember, he took a winning program (Fla St) and made them into a mediocre program. His record at A&M is much like ours was here, stuck on 8-4 with winning half the SEC schedule. Just a huge A&M Admin blunder.
  11. As long as its not Jimbo, I can live with the decision. I do hope its someone who will unite and get all the powers in line. We need a homerun desperately.
  12. I have no idea who will be the next AU HC. However I will always be eternally grateful for what the current interim staff has done to make the transition a success. The fans, recruits, and current players have been impacted in the most positive way to draw attention to a 4-6 team. The Admin will now be faced with addressing interim coaches in regards to the incoming HC. LAC may or may not be HC material yet, but he and the other staff have interjected hope into an otherwise lost season.
  13. In some strange way, this might also help Harsin grow as a coach. LAC seems more as a mentor and family. Something these kids obviously need.
  14. I find it hard to believe that we toss criticism around like we are winning in spite of ourselves. This staff and these players have pulled together, even stepping out of their comfort zone to achieve a turnaround that could only have been a dream just three games ago. Everybody is in sink for the first time in a while. Maybe our makeshift OL is in fact playing over its head. Had I not seen our OL for the past couple years, I would be thinking we have a pretty good OL. Maybe the stars are aligned. But in the end, everyone on this staff and the players (regardless of stars) are united for the first time in a while with a special bond that will endure them to each other for the rest of our lives. I am going to enjoy this brief moment in AU history.
  15. In my opinion, what lost the game was the kick off return. Our kicker simply didn't have the leg to kick it consistently into the end zone. That was corrected in the A&M game. The defense I thought played well considering all the circumstances that had just occurred.
