Auburn is historically a top 15 football team. I'm willing to bet the NIL money for the football program is at least in the top 20. We are not some poverty program and we need to quit acting like one.

The problem is we hire coaches no one else wants. And then we act surprised when they suck.

Get the right coach in here and AU is easily a top 10-20 football program. With a chance to win at all if we go on a run at the right time in the 12 team playoff.

I believe we have the right coach now.  We lost 2 years on the Harsin debacle but Freeze is getting stuff done and has significantly upgraded the roster. Once the wins start coming this year, things will be even better.

I know this will not be a popular topic, but does Butch really deserve another season? This has been an absolutely disastrous and embarrassing SEC season, 3-20. This team can’t even win a SEC series at home against the lower tier.

Butch is a great guy and well liked, but as a coach, he is at best mediocre . Does anyone on this board have any confidence that he can turn this program around get Auburn to the top ranks of the SEC? Or are you satisfied with Auburn baseball being average and below average most seasons with no SEC championships? I don’t have any confidence that he can .

    Flame away!

That's completely ridiculous.  mediocre doesn't get you to the world series TWICE.   YES, he absolutely deserves another season (several IMO)

Widra was great today! We need her to step up and carry the load for the pitching staff. Hopefully Tamborra, Rolfe, and incoming recruit Godfrey can help.

The environment was pretty good today too. The stadium was about 80% full today, but it’s annoying to see so many empty seats behind home plate with so many standing room only people.

The part that bothers me more than that is the idiot uaters in the front row behind homeplate.  They should never be able to get those seats.

That's weird. I'm relieved that it's something with my setup and not the site.

    Thanks all.

PS: I'm using Firefox. Maybe that's it?

might check to see if your date/time on your computer is correct.

Who cares about those sports. Football is what is important. The rest just suck money that could be used for football.

I do. Im certain there are tons of others here that care as well.    I, as a fan of Auburn, want them to be successful in EVERY SPORT.  I may not watch every sport or game but I damn sure want Auburn to be successful in those sports.   Most of us arent just Auburn football fans, we are Auburn SPORTS ( as in all sports) fans. Sorry (not really) if that bothers you.

Nothing against Phillip, but he reports. If the Leadership was serious about this program, they would accelerate the timeline, name the successor that is truly an Auburn Woman/Man and put the clown in the hat out to pasture as special assistant to the regional manager.

That's never happened in the history of hiring a coach, why would you expect it to happen now?   Just because the leadership doesn't hire a replacement on YOUR timing doesn't mean they aren't serious about the program.   Also, no coach worth having is going to abandon the place they are currently coaching and just wait for the current season to end, nor is any program (at any level) going to tell a coach that wasn't fired to just leave during the season.  That's just not how things work at any level.

Even interim coaches that take over after a coach is fired during the season don't get named permanent head coach (if they are chosen) until after the season is over.

No doubt Cohen has a list of names he will reach out too, or maybe already has through agents but nothing will happen likely until the WCWS is over.

They, unlike us, have an elite  coach.

And make NO mistakes.  Oates is elite.

That is quite possibly the most ridiculous and uninformed post ever put on this board.

I really really hope Cohen goes after a power 5 coach like D’Amour or Young, I’m just not sure I’m willing to take a chance on an unproven group of 5 coach again with Texas and Oklahoma coming up next year.

also did Marshall mention possibly which coaches? I don’t pay for that stuff lol.

They aren't going to make that stuff public.  Everybody should know that by now. Marshall probably doesn't even know which coaches.  Even if they did, it would be premium content and not sharable here.

  9. Mickey Dean inherited an awful situation when he got here.  He navigated through that and has been recruiting quite well, but it just never has translated to on field success.   The girls deserve better than what they've gotten once they got here.  Hiring Lenti was an awful decision.    It's time for this program to make a change so I'm excited to see who Cohen goes out to get.   I really hope Cohen wants this program to be successful and will make a home run (or grand slam) hire.   Having this happen now rather at the end of the season gives Cohen a jump on putting a list of potential candidates together so he's ready to reach out to them once the season is over.

This is really good news for this program that has been stuck in this funk for several seasons.   Please John Cohen go out and get us the best coach for those girls and for Auburn.

I completely disagree - it’s a flagrant foul, not a flagrant 2. He committed a similar act that the guy did to him on the previous possession that a referee looking right at them did not call.

Yes, I agree that it was a selfish, stupid play. But to call a guy for a Flagrant 2 when he did not swing at the guy’s head is ridiculous! To eject a player 3 minutes into the first round of the NCAA tournament for elbowing a guy in the chest is ridiculous!

No its not.  There's nothing in the rule book that says the contact has to be in a certain place to get a Flagrant 2.  That was a Flagrant 2 foul every time.  He looked back to see where he was and delivered the shot.  It was premeditated and entirely intentional and unnecessary.   Flagrant 2 all day long.

    Weak flagrant 2

That wasn't the least bit a weak flagrant 2.  It was an absolutely intentional thing he did and extremely obvious it was intentional.  It was the easiest call of any officiating crew spanning every single game played during the season.

Wow, 5 in the NET rankings, SEC tournament winner and a 4 seed.  Oh well, we go in with a chip on our shoulder.  That's ridiculous, but so be it.

I tried to tell you all that the SEC tournament doesn't affect seeding.   It hasn't mattered for YEARS (more like DECADES).

  13. I absolutely HATE the 2 minute warning.  The NCAA needs to quit filtering this crap down from the NFL and ruining the game.   They've done this multiple times over the years and non of the changes belong in the college game, IMO.

I really just don't like football anymore. Auburn not being good for so long has ruined it for me. And on Super Bowl Sunday, there is no basketball on, except maybe early in the afternoon.

That's odd.  I watched basketball most of the day yesterday.   I think the last game I wached ened around 630 or 7 last night.

ALL tourney games are road games. Neutral court is a Rroad game, not a home game.

No they are not.  They are ALL played at NEUTRAL sites.  A road game is played on the opponents floor and a NEUTRAL site game is NOT.  I can't believe this has to be explained to anybody here.  Wow.

Here we go again. Just like the past few years. Win at home. Tank on the road. So with all the home wins and wins against bottom-dwellers like Vandy, non-conference wins against powder-puffs, Auburn rings up a good record.

But loses on the road to middlin teams like Florida and Miss State.

Thing is, come March, all tourney games are ROAD games. Once again, like year after year, Auburn just can't seem to pump it up and win on the road. Vandy? hahaha Where is even one road win over a team that is above middlin?

Auburn has a truckload of "good" players. And I love my Tigers. But fact is, this is another year like previous years. A good overall record with nothing after the regular season.

    Am I being too harsh?

I wasn't aware the season was over already.  Who won the National Title? I guess I missed the entire tournament.

MASSIVE reach to say nothing after the regular season when aren't even close to post season play.   Clearly you have given up on the team, which is fine.  Good luck finding someone to cheer for, its clear you don't expect much from Auburn you have over 300 options out there. Do you try hard to be this negative or is it just natural?
