I want to say what’s going on and I tried earlier and I think it was taken down so I’ll hide in the corner..

  2. Everyone has flaws, including the ones we look up to (and ourselves). If a coach or coaches did something (or somethings, could be different) that could reflect badly on Auburn University, then this needs to be addressed. Character matters, whether public or personal. I have no internal information, but sometimes the smoke is clear.

Why not? Cleary he can't keep a staff together. So, if we don't win next year, who else will be to blame? The players? He sure can recruit but the on field production left much to be desired this year. But I guess we'll blame Roberts and Montgomery, and now Caddy apparently.

Reading between the lines, these could be two (or three, or four) different issues.

Maybe not Dell but I’m pretty sure I just read one of the beat writers say the new OC will coach RBs.  I’ll have to find where I saw that and post it.

This off-season is as or more draining as what we just went through with Harsin.   I was really hoping it would be smooth sailing with Freeze’s experience.  Hopefully this is all for the best of the program.

    Few things:

It should not have been one on one. Back to execution.

You are correct most associate hail Mary passes with crowding receivers to a spot, but they actually have various designs.

Agree. It wasn't a lucky grab no doubt and our guy(s) got beat.

It wasn't an easy throw. It was a 45 yard pass to the back of the endzone that was precise and any thing less wouldn't work.

  6. Ok, so I have to amend my previous statement. Hunter is practicing (as is Caleb Wooden), so that leads me to believe the Title IX investigation is complete. Football team punishments may continue, but the either/or of playing at all this season should be over. So, game-time appears to be a football decision and we still don't know what that will entail. Starting the first game, the first, second, or third game, etc.,

I'd b more than happy with this.  Rotation looks manageable.  LSU seems like they'd lose UF, which I'm not sure they'd like...but have a pretty easy permanent 3.

I just want 9 games above anything else.  1+7 is dumb

This is probably very close to what the SEC will schedule with a 3-6 nine game schedule except you don't have the home/away schedule right, the permanent opponents look good, but we'd be home and away with the other 6, then home and away, though your proposal is interesting,

Okay, the media are going to have a field day with Auburn hiring cheater Hugh Freeze, just as they did with Auburn hiring cheater Bruce Pearl. Yep, Auburn is second, third, fourth chance U. The landing place for cheater coaches. Funny they never went crazy over Petrino or Eddie Sutton, and seem to be uninterested in Self at Kansas.

The only cure for media bias is winning, and staying clean while winning. CBP has done it, although the whole Parsons sh*t show certainly hasn't helped. Can CHF create a Mr Clean image to the football world? Welp, we don't know yet. I sure hope so.

But it really doesn't matter with some of the media pundits. They still rant about Auburn "buying" Cam Newton. Ancient history. Some of those media pundits will never quit on Auburn.

You can't control the media; control your reactions to the media. Either Hugh Freeze is a changed man, or he isn't. He deserves the chance to prove he has changed,

Well I sure hope you are right but Cohen assurance really doesn't make me rest easy.  He is going to say that considering he hired him.  Freeze has do nothing at Auburn that other coaches have not done.  He has not won a game.  I am saying we went sewer fishing and all we caught was a mediocre minnow.

Yet you haven't let Coach Freeze coach a game yet?

  10. I have occasionally posted my thoughts on this forum (even before it was aufamily.com; was it wareaglenation? and something before that I don't remember?) and @cctiger and @augolf1716 both reflect the history of the support for Auburn football and the university, which have not always been aligned.

I greatly enjoy that the banter back and forth (even if I'm not caught up with it) is always without malice. That separates this forum from the vast, vast majority of other team forums. We are all Orange & Blue; even if we argue about the process, the goals are the same.

    That I've ever seen:

    Meanest player: Nick Farley

Meanest player pound for pound: Jason Miska

  11. It will be the following three (nine game schedule!):

    Alabama
    Georgia
    Miss St or Ole Miss

The third one is obviously the swing, but it doesn't matter that much to me. Hail State or Hoddy Toddy, give me some of that. Land grant vs best college town in the south competitor? I'll take either compared to how UCSe will be screwed. Actually, they could be matched with us...

I don't think anyone would've beaten USCw that night sadly. We definitely would've played them closer though. Really wish there had been a playoff w/ committee during the BCS era. Trying to decide who would've been fourth that year (and most years, come to think of it) would've been a trip. 😵

But you, and no one know, for sure, because the match up didn't happen. USCw would have certainly played a different scheme, as Auburn was putting away opponents early and going into "Tubershell" : https://www.collegeandmagnolia.com/2016/3/23/11285210/2004-Auburn-advanced-stats-knockout-tubershell

There is some validity to this argument, not sure it's relevant to Walker White's commitment, but here we are. On the wrong thread.

I think this format will lead to doing away with the conference championship game, and that's a good thing.  I've always hated that game. Without it, we are conference champs Nix's freshman year, and headed to the playoffs with momentum. Why hand one of your best teams a loss at the year end, especially in a rematch game?

I concur; if you expand the conference season to 9 games (3 permanent opponents, 6 rotating) and do away with the "championship game", this all works itself out as the best team in the conference season is the champion.

I forgive him for everything. Putting him in charge of young athletes is an entirely different story. There is a difference.

Yes, indeed. This should not be a question about forgiveness but prudence.

Let me ask this question: if Freeze was submitting to a background check for coaching youth sports and you were on the review committee,  would you approve his application?

So...if Hugh walked in to your place of ministry needing ministering (like we all do), you'd leave because you can't be associated with him or Auburn University? Or would you tell him to leave because your reputation in that place of ministry would be jeopardized?
