Not necessary.  Everyone will be jumping ship reallu soon.  Pitchers and position players.  Expect a minimum of 16 to enter the transfer portal.  (I have insight into this - my great nephew plays on the team.)

Could be….wonder where they would go to “better” themselves….

  2. Memory is fuzzy, but I seem to recall there are “state of Alabama” stipulations that limit scholarships in baseball…I’m a bit aged, so I might be making that up…..Regardless, is seems Auburn baseball is always swimming upstream.

Also seems baseball gets the leftovers on NIL money. That is a crappy game but the need to ante up is real…for now.

Does he “deserve” an interview? Based on what? His entire basketball life has been under his father’s tutelage. A career 32.6% FT shooter, Bruce still played him 11 minutes a game as a senior. Not a strong rebounder or scorer. He sold medical devices until his father hired him. I’ve got nothing against him. Maybe he could develop into a good coach but the way to do that is to seek out small time head coaching jobs like his Dad did and prove himself. Bruce put in 9 years in division II. Then 4 years at Milwaukee. Still, Auburn didn’t hire him based on his first 15 years as a HC. We hired him because he succeeded at Tennessee. I’ve got no problem with interviewing or hiring Steven— after he gets out on his own and proves himself. Until then, he shouldn’t be seen as a serious candidate.

“Auburn didn’t hire him” is the key line. There were plenty of indications in Bruce’s career he was a good coach and…….Tennessee hired him. Other than Sonny and Cliff, Auburn’s hires have been uninspiring…until Bruce. I’d tend to trust his judgment over what we have seen from the usual hiring process.

You should keep it in your mouth. Calling your own player a THUG is pretty disgusting behavior. I'm sure you've lived an angelic life.

Ummmm….ok…his play is at times much too aggressive and has created circumstances more difficult than they might have been….like now leaving his team sort a player. Better?

    Excuses....

-Don't confuse quantity with quality. At this point we don't know.

-Who cares how document/s got from one place to another (air, car, train). Both had documents transported to different locations.

It is important because documents were moved from the site of an investigation, Mar-a-Lago, to New Jersey. An intentional effort to hide them and mislead investigators.

  6. There seems to be a bit of hypocrisy here. Both Biden and Trump took classified documents that should not be in their possession. From the televised photos it did not appear that Biden took crates upon crates of documents as Trump did. Nor, while an investigation is progressing, did Biden load and fly many of these crates to another location as did Trump…per a former Mar-a-Lago employee. Biden made money from a book. Trump businesses profited the entire time he was in the White House. Neither should have taken documents. An analogy of this would be you stole a dollar…I stole $100,000….you cooperated with authorities and I didn’t…in fact I did everything possible to cover my tracks. Which of us should be prosecuted?

In his prime he was never jfk or Reagan - or even close. But he was much more dynamic tonight than I expected.

    Now EO the border.

Often overlooked that Biden overcame a childhood stutter. Much like our own Bo Jackson, he will never be a great orator, but by God, he got the points across!

As for the border….both parties have made a political football of this. Money must be spent to reduce the chaos. The United States has very low unemployment and needs workers. When was the last time you saw a fair haired white boy re-roofing a house? Without immigrants we’d be sitting around with pots and pans in the floor collecting water!

Redraw the lines to qualify as an immigrant to the U.S. Build mega processing centers to speed people through, and escort non-qualifiers out…immediately. Takes both sides…..Republicans sat on their hands instead of voting for a bill they helped create.

  8. IMO Saban taught a value system…one to last a lifetime. Learn to do the job properly….execute what you have been taught to the best of your ability. Be a good teammate, and look out for each other.
I suppose with NIL, the earth shifted beneath Saban’s feet….along with every other coach. Now it’s about instant gratification….gimme, gimme. Corporate America is all about this quarter’s profit. Politics is no longer about doing the greatest amount of good for the greatest number of people. It is all short term, what can you do for me, thinking.

Thus far I’ve not donated to On To Victory. I want the best for Auburn, but the current landscape makes me feel I’m wasting money. Buy a player and he doesn’t contribute,  and then transfers. I understand Saban’s frustration.

I would vote for Tubs in a heartbeat over any democrat in Alabama I can think of. I don't agree with everything he does but he is out with the people and transparent. He is for sure better than the lap dog Doug Jones that he beat.

Doug Jones has done far more to promote a better society. Than Tubs has even thought about.

  10. So many memories in this place…saw all of the great A’s players. Saw Reggie hit a game winning Grand Slam OVER the right center field light tower in the bottom of the 9th. Saw Bo hit a line drive home run to left that got outta the park in a second. Great memories….also managed to dodge a liner into the stands behind the dugout…while not spilling any of the two beers and 3 hotdogs I was carrying!

This!!!   Some of us lucky ones got to see it everyday.  He had a funny/evil sense of humor too.   We had a second baseman, I believe from New Jersey -- Eddie Dilks.   We all called him Dilksie -- short guy.  One day we were fielding ground balls and running simulations/situations for the infield/outfield i.e. coach hitting fungo's would call out a situation like "nobody on, nobody out" right before he hit the fungo and everyone would have to move/react as if the hitter just hit the ball in that situation.   Bo and I were in center and he says to me, "watch this, next throw to Dilksie I'm going to one hop him, and it is going to eat him up."  None of the guys looked forward to taking a one hop throw from Bo -- particularly from center to second.   I swear I can still hear him saying it to this day with the stutter he had back then.

You should do a pinned post of Bo stories from back in the day. Auburn has had so many great players and characters….but, Bo…once in two or three lifetimes athlete.

Your naivety when it comes to accountability of where our goods go once shipped is laughable. We're making goods that end up in warlords' hands in the middle east and Africa. So no. I dont want to fund them in any conceivable way.

Keep kidding yourself on Trump's chances in respect to the poll numbers I've been showing you all. If you're not at least facing the fact that he has a legitimate shot, you're delusional.

While I fully support Israel’s right to defend itself, it is doubtful their military would have its current strength without US funding. I do not know, but wonder what level of accountability is there.

BTW…current Republican posturing tying funds for Ukraine and Israel to “border security” is a callous blurring of issues that should be handled separately. Both parties have had ample opportunities to reshape immigration, but cannot formulate a plan or cooperate with each other. Really stupid to embrace funding inaction  that reinvigorates Putin as he tries to recreate the Russia of the 1960s and also hamstrings Israel.

Unions can be a burden, but without them, what power would employees have?  Without any rules, employees would be even more of a disposable resource.  Without organized labor, there would have been no restrictions on hours worked, conditions, health benefits or many other things that people take for granted.

Like anything, it sometimes goes too far, but many times it is the only thing standing between corporate greed and a powerless employee.

I worked in the early days of a now corporate behemoth in healthcare,  when it was a smaller, fledgling operation. The HR VP always said that companies who deserve a union generally get a union. The operation I was in probably deserved one. The Medical Director was a behind the scenes tyrant to third shift production people. The company won a unionization effort because the union over promised and developed a credibility issue.

Unions are not a panacea, but are still needed because companies are too often run for “shareholder value”, and of course hefty bonuses and stock options for top management. This leads to a short term myopic focus on “this quarter”. Employee morale, safety, and service to the customer can take a hit.

  15. Today’s AJs are way better shoes than versions 1,2, and 3. In that regard, I’m highly skeptical that today’s UA shoes are as bad as the first few editions, or what gets reported here. However, at the end of the day, each one of us has individual needs in a shoe. I get the $$$$ involved with the school branding thing, but the punch line is the kid’s comfort and performance….not what is “cool”. Much as I’d like a bit more style, I wear New Balance, because they work better for me than the swoosh or UA.

I hope he takes full responsibility.  He shouldn’t be able to blame anyone but the man in the mirror.  If he pushes it off on players, no respect.

Obviously a less than stellar coaching job, but the players were the ones on the field sleep walking. Gotta have some pride, suck it up and beat the guy in front of you. A consistent fail today.
