I am hoping Harsin is the man, but we blew a 25 lead , at home, to MSU. This was a colossal loss and epic meltdown.

Blame that one on Mason.  I know Harsin is the head coach but Mason blew that one by not putting pressure on the QB.

I didn't say he'd be gone. I said if he is, it's because he's in the NFL. Personally, I think Harsin will be the head coach for a good long while, but if we ARE successful, he's going to be an attractive target for other programs, and potentially the NFL. *NOTE* I don't think he's the type to leave for another program, as long as the fan base doesn't run him off with unrealistic expectations.

You do realize you're talking about Auburn fans right.  I've seen it all from both AU & bama fan bases.  I remember overhearing a conversation between Fred Sington and some others about how they needed to get rid of the bear.  This was in 1975 or so before he turned it around.  Also some AU folks wanted to get rid of Dye after a few losses to bama and in particularly to Texas when we were ranked so high.  Fans are very fickle and 99.9% of the time don't know diddly about what they are talking about.  (And I count myself among this group).

Welcome to your spot on the pine… Enjoy

Hope u feel better with this post.  We just fired his old man after one year.  The Bobo's move their entire family to AU and now will have to move again.  Anyone in their right mind understands this move.  And he's 18 or 19 years old.  Thinks he can develop into a good O Lineman.  And I for on, hope he does.

Dude should go to Oregon if that is where he wants to be. We have a high need to make all our signees count and i would hate to waste a scholly on a guy who will get homesick and leave after a semester.

His heart is not with the University of Oregon.  It was with Cristobal.  And yes, Cristobal is that good of a recruiter.

BUMP.  As almost all signs point to us finishing strong. It shows a very similar development like the Chiz's class did.  Building relationships takes time.  Plus now you have to recruit the portal as well.

Chizik had 2 very elite recruiters, Trooper and Luper, who would bend a few rules to get the kids they wanted.  Not sure Harsin has folks like that on staff, but maybe he should if we are to compete.,

It's not permissible to mention NIL benefits to a prospect. After he signs, the gates are then open.

None of the above are related to Covid. This is the "new" college football. Like it or leave it. It will take most of us a few years to decide of we can live with this new setup or not. I see it as simply a "rich get richer" setup, but I'm giving it a few years.

As Shug used to say, You're so right, Carl!

Run off????  Come on man, the guy is gonna play in the nfl no matter where he plays in college.   He played really well last night and not sure why he hasn’t run that way all year.   Could he have been utilized better? Of course, but if, he chooses to leave, it’s all on him and he is wanting to leave.

He's been hurt.  He has played with a badly bruised foot and it has just now gotten ALMOST 100% healed.

Overall, the personnel losses weren't as high as in a normal year. Many other teams would kill to have as many key players returning as AU had on both sides of the ball. Other teams with 1st year coaches improved on their previous years' record. I expected AU to improve too, and we have not.

No team lost more recruits/players than Tennessee, yet they have improved their record over last season. AU should have been able to do the same.

You keep talking about key players returning, another year's experience, etc.  But what if these key players have become as good as they are going to get?  It's like a baseball player who hits  for a 250 average.  Just because he comes back the next year doesn't mean he's going to hit 275.

Gus didn't leave us in good shape but it also isn't a dumpster fire. Not even close. You're very literally calling the likes of Tank, Zakoby, Pappoe, McCreary, Nix, Wooden, Monday "trash". It's okay to be glad Gus is gone and also hold the new coaches accountable for their failure Saturday.

In no way am I calling out the players.  Gus left us with no depth to speak of.  In the SEC you win up front, and this is where we are so lacking in quality players and depth. The overall state of the program, in comparison to our peers, particularly our two main foes (Ga & bama) is not good.  Maybe dumpster fire is harsh.  I'll just call it a waste basket fire.

Yep oddball is my hero positive waves will come I've been thru recruiting for over 50 years was recruitied by the bear way back went..............patience

You say PATIENCE???  You're asking way too much of many Auburn fans.  It' apparently makes them feel better to criticize Auburn  coaches, even though the new coach inherited a dumpster fire.  And as far as being Kentucky, had Gus stayed we would soon have been the Vandy of the SEC West.  But I'm like you.  Older and I hope a bit wiser.  I've seen it all since Shug roamed the sidelines and we're not in as bad of shape as some would think.  I see light at the end of the tunnel.

There’s no reason we had to play catch up but I predicted we would have to.  I’m not sure why the AU power structure tends to take a wait and see attitude about things like this while other schools seize the new way of doing things quickly.  I think the three major sports at AU have about as strong a HC lineup as we’ve had since the 80’s and I would like to see them have the same tools that UAT and UGA have.

Our compliance department is 100 times more strict and cautious than our major competitors.

Bama is really hurting us here, esp in Basketball recruiting.

UGA Basketball is a sleeping giant and they have a working NIL strategy.

NC State and Virginia are currently stealing top-tier regional Swim recruits (NC State has a NIL system for Swimmers in place).

LSU has access to a Baton Rouge based NIL agency that specializes in Female athletes (this probably helps them in Gymnastics recruiting, they currently have two 5-stars and one 4-star committed)

Apparently, Auburn is now working on a NIL strategy. I read that AUC/247 will have updates soon and publish an article on Auburn's new NIL strategy later this week.

We need to catch up ASAP.  Giving our players 2 sheets of plywood ain't cutting it!😀
