After watching NMSU pummel us in JHS,  then get dismantled by Maryland, I’m in full wait and see mode on each game this season. Hate it, but that’s where it is with me.

Definitely a reasonable angle. The optimistic side though would be that both sides of the ball are under new management.
We apparently had the talent to hang with bama and uga so even a small upgrade in talent and an upgrade in coaching could make a huge difference.
Big emphasis on the could and the upgrade description is still waiting to be proven

All in all it’s hard to hate someone for being either optimistic or pessimistic.

It’s going to be an interesting ride!

Since the author made public in the text what specifically wanted to ask President Roberts, my question is why these issues not provided to President Roberts.
    IMHO Roberts request was reasonable.

I agree. If you aren’t attempting to do gotcha journalism, send them the questions and report the answers. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fifty, thanks for sharing the articles! 👍🏼

  3. My opinion….bama is going to be throwing the bank at making sure they get the same caliber of recruiting results that they have grown used to over the last several years. Lots of folks have said that they didn’t have to pay anymore because of on the field results, but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t pay. I think they will try and buy their way beyond the saban years and they are hopeful that similar results will galvanize a belief that it’s just because they are alabama.
Also my opinion, if they get the on the field results they won’t have to worry about who or when the next coach is because people will believe it’s just the awesomeness of alabama.

If we wet the bed on this with the way college ball is trending we won’t be a consistent challenge for them going forward.
I don’t have the answer but I hope someone does.

Gonna be honest, a little frustrated no one has addressed my question earlier. -.-

I think the easy answer is the guys we are bringing in have a higher ceiling than the guys we are losing. To plug depth holes, I think we will continue to add to both lines through the portal based on what we’ve seen so far. The optimism though is from our recruited high schoolers.

Not sure why this kind of misogynistic perspective has anything at all to do with his ability to attract players and win games.

That said, I think he is not in the "dream recruiting spot" as Saban.

What the crap are you talking about? How is the thought that his wife will possibly not like how time consuming trying to satisfy their fan base will be, considered misogynistic?
They have a fairly young family and sec coaching is a meat grinder.
I would appreciate you minding your own business next time instead of trying to label my intentions.

  6. So I’m going to ask a question that has probably been answered 100 times…so feel free to ignore if you wish.
Im curious about the ins and outs of who can and recruit.
Do the recruiters have to be the on the field coaches?

It seems like we are getting to the point of almost needing two full staffs (one of coaches and one of recruiters) to manage the chaos of this new recruiting world. Obviously there could be some crossover but I curious if that is the way we will trend in the future and if that is what is being built.
Possibly like I envision MLB being with talent acquisition and coaching being the responsibilities of different groups.
    Any thoughts?

The way NIL is *supposed* to work is a high school prospect OR college player can market themselves to endorsements and such.  But, lo and behold, the boosters jump in before any rules are in place and form "collectives" that basically exist as a Go-Fund-Me account to go out and buy players.  It's absurd, and it will get ugly before they get a handle on it.

I'm sorry, but I won't contribute a personal dime to it.

The go-fund-me analogy is about as good of one as I can think of. 👍🏼

This is huge losing him but the problem I would see is if he gets smart and hires a good coach with southern roots/recruiter

True, but there is a very good possibility that this will necessarily divide his focus which is a good thing. He’s going to have a lot to do between now and the fall which doesn’t leave a ton of time for relationship building. I think most would agree that the relationship issue was a big problem for harsin, of course there is no evidence that he cared. 😏

Not the smoothest start for Husky Harsin. His downfall isn’t going to be the fact that he’s not a fit coach; his downfall is going to be that he never intended to be a cult leader. Gonna chew him up and spit him out.

I agree. Also his wife is going to have to be a different breed to put up with that fan base and the different level of commitment than they are used to in my opinion.
I would imagine their family time will be significantly less.
I hope she encourages him to invest the same amount of time that harsin did. 😎🤦🏻‍♂️

They err at times but overall usually get it right. Instant replay shows that they make some amazingly good calls.

That would be a good time for there celebration!

Upon on further review we were exactly right!!🎉🎉🎉

Talk of maybe Shepard  and Huff following him out there. Losing the O’ coordinator, O’ line, and receiver’s coach would be nice.

Here’s a fun quote from the Seattle Times.

Though the Seahawks had interest in Grubb from the start, one reason for waiting to make the hire official was to allow a 30-day window for Alabama players to enter the transfer portal to pass.”

    https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/seahawks/seahawks-fill-offensive-coordinator-spot-with-former-husky-coach-ryan-grubb/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=article_inset_1.1

That needs to be all over “X” just to stir the pot a bit. 😎

KD did a great job on Sears.  That was a brilliant coach move by Pearl.  KD is quick and powerful enough to pressure Sears and not let him drive to the basket.  Sears was really frustrated, especially at the end of the 1st half, when time expired before he could get a shot off.

That’s one of the things I like to get my kids to do. Find the opponents best player and frustrate them to no end within the rules.
Actually had one opposing player jump on my kids back because he was so frustrated. 😄

  13. I think trust and consistency tend to have coaches lean more toward the upper class men in most cases. I’m not sure how much trust Freeze had in Robby, but my bad memory thinks that all was lost for Robby when he made a couple of blatantly bad reads in what I think was the ole miss game.
It is hard to earn trust as a new addition to the team.
I think what we attribute to loyalty a lot of times is just players being able to be trusted.

apologies.........durkin whom i was not happy with earlier...........

I’m clearly on the optimist side (which I usually am) but I think Durkin being higher energy than Roberts will help our defense.
I think we played pretty good d at times last year but I don’t remember seeing a lot of emotion like we saw in the Muschamp days.

the more i read or watch on youtube the more impressed i am. the talking heads say he will make Auburn's D elite. we shall see.

Who are you talking about here fifty?

    Garrett or Durkin?

Not disagreeing that either could just curious about the context. 👍🏼

The other story that has been circulating is that there was a hold-up regarding Durkin's TAMU contract.  TAMU is apparently in between AD's and there was a matter of buy-out (either from TAMU's end or Durkin's) that needed to be resolved.  I suppose both the Kiffin story and the Durkin story could be true, just wondering how the two timelines align.

Interesting. Hadn’t heard the contract talk. 👍🏼
