No that NMSU loss was a straight ass whooping, the 7th win should’ve been against Bama

But tbh I think Auburn goes about 7-5 too. Thorne just isn’t a good QB even with better weapons I just don’t see it. He struggled in 6 straight games to throw for a measly 100 yards

Yes…just one legitimate defensive play call at end of Bama game would have tempered a lot of bad “everything” from NMSU fiasco. Oh well…

I won’t crystal ball predict on how Thorne will look this season. But I will point out the following:

    - At Michigan State, when he had a solid run game and had a solid receiver to throw to, he relaxed and balled out.
-Last season, his best games were the games where we were able to run the ball effectively. Minus drops (which were a major issue last year), he had ridiculously good completion percentages in those games.

If we can run block well, the added weapons should majorly open up the passing game. I’m not saying I think he’ll break Auburn records. But he should be good enough to manage the game effectively. In an RPO scheme like Freeze’s, you don’t need a world beater at QB. You just need someone who can confidently make the right reads.

And CHF doing the play calling. That and recruiting got him where he is now.

So Coach, when you read my comment, take note. Start winning regularly before you give up the play calling.

Not to a point where I have bought into HF as a coach yet. Recruiter, for sure, but skeptical about the rest.

I believe that if CHF actually takes on full in-game play calling responsibilities, our offense could quite possibly get us into a 7+ win season. However, if he plays only part-time play caller, we may all be unhappy.

His strengths in his resume have been recruiting and play calling. Until AU gets loaded on Offense, he needs to be ready to do both—even if only for a season.

It can’t be a shared task between 2 coaches, which costs time and continuity. That’s as bad as rotating Quarterbacks.

I’m gonna hang up and wait for CHF phone call…

I have to confess a dirty secret. I get a sick pleasure from venturing over to opponents message boards and reading their game threads after we beat them by 20+. I noticed a recurring theme while doing so this year. Non-Auburn fans HATE Dylan Cardwell.

I would have expected to see a lot of hate for KD and CBM but a lot of opposing fans list DC as their most hated player in the league. I guess it’s all the flexing and other theatrics after making a play. I feel like if they knew what a good kid he actually is they would see him more the way we do, just a kid out there having a blast playing ball. Happy to have him back.

Amen. So glad to know he is coming back. And I love his style!

What is the general opinion of all the QB play yesterday? I think they still need a transfer or maybe even giving the California transfer a chance. Just for extra insurance.

Rotating 4 QB’s for the entirety of the “scrimmage” surely made things more difficult than normal. To add to the problem, each QB was playing with a different set of players.

i think the coaches worked to allow most everyone to participate at this point in Spring (or so it seemed to me) to maybe reward all for Spring Practice.

i genuinely do not think much was attempted to be shown given the parameters. There were a few highlights. However, not much continuity for lots of reasons. JMO

Maybe it has something to do with what appears that we have one play with 3 variations.

The coaches were never going to show much anyway. We won’t know to any real degree until Fall. JMO

Spring game is never, zero, zip, nadda an indicator of how the team will play in the fall.

cam newton looked very very pedestrian in the spring game and the team looked very average.  Won a natty.

we may be way better - or worse - than today.

I do remember thinking after seeing Newton and the team that Spring that we were in for a bad season.

  8. This was almost as bad as the fail against New Mexico State in football. Really sad.

i do believe though that CBM getting tossed ruined team mindset and attitude…surely limited CBP coaching options.

Had a chance to get the lead and he wasted it it with his reckless dribbling and breakneck pace.

His 3 point shooting was gone down the stretch of this season and he still chucked them up

Yes, it was great getting the rebound and running it out. But as you said, KD not only turned the ball over—he also fouled and made it loss of ball and a 4-point swing for them. Sad.
