Harsin was a micro-manager to the nth degree. I understand coaches wanting to direct the overall ship his way but he went to the extremes in not trusting most of his staff.

What's weird is he was a micro-manager in ensuring that the coaches were NOT doing their job. Like he was actively trying to force his coaches in being lazy recruiters.

How in the world is this JABA?

He just entered the portal MONDAY.  Then you have to discuss with potential schools then get CC to transfer records.  That doesn’t usually happen quick.  Then Auburn has to evaluate, and I am sure there were some discussions about any work arounds.  So that basically happened in a three day period and Freeze might have gone ahead and got Leary in when he sensed there could be an issue.

Some of y’all melt faster than a snowman in a sauna at every little thing.

I don't think it's a big deal that he didn't come. But why does Auburn need to truly evaluate him or wait on transcripts just for a visit?

Doesn’t every new coach bring in people he’s worked with? Weird to compare his hires to Saban hiring O’Brien. Saban can hire anyone he wants. Freeze isn’t quite at GOAT status.

Also, considering every offensive position coach is rumored to have been hired, I’d say it’s very likely he’s selected his OC.

And Saban has been at Bama for what? 15years? When a new coach goes to a school, he needs to establish authority and a team that he trusts implicitly to not undermine him. It sad, but it's the reality of the situation of any new leadership there is going to be a power struggle. Saban is established and absolutely not ever going to have to worry about an underling trying to backstab him.

This is happening more often in larger organizations with busy leaders and figureheads; having someone or some department be the distributor of the social media content. It'll create a more consistent social media message presentation, cadence and format and also, who has the time to argue with the internet collective.

We now know what the holdup with Kiffin was. He wouldn't get off Twitter.

I really don't understand the down votes.  He is already leading Jackson State to excellence.  He is destined to do it again.

Jackson St is one step above Springdale HS. It's not like we're talking about a mid major program here.

He doesn't have a single win against a Power 5 team or even Group of 5 teams. He has a long way to go before proving himself worthy of a Top 15 coaching position in the country.

Dion can do the one thing that we have to have right now.   He can get the Jimmy and Joe's.    We can hire him assistants to take care of the X's and O's.

This just screams "We're looking to hire a temporary head coach that we can fire in a few years when we get better players". Sure, let's look to pay out another massive buyout, and then start from square one again with a better cupboard....likely filed with borderline problem recruits. That sounds like a great plan for Auburn right now.

  7. Y'all have hyped Deion to be some magical coach. He's still sooo green. I was listening to radio the other day, and while Memphis fans are somewhat interested for their coaching position (if it were to become available), the talking heads are saying he may not be quality enough to coach there. But it'd be worth the chance.

But yet y'all feel like he's good enough to be a top tier coach in the SEC??  This seems like Turner Gill type hype.

It seems many of you have lost faith in Auburn being a top tier program and think they can't hire someone decent with experience. We have to take moonshot options as a prayer's chance of being successful? Have y'all reduced the Auburn coaching gig to level of Memphis Football?

I just wonder why he is still employed. Auburn will lose money in the long run and that loss will just continue to grow as long as he is employed at Auburn. Fire him today.

I don't think they'd loose less by firing him now vs 3 months from now. It's not like an assistant will be able to win anymore...or less bad.

Obviously he needs to go by the end of the year, but we aren't going to replace him until Jan at the earliest so there's no real point unless you feel like your targeted coach won't be available by then.

We aren't going to make a bowl game, so I think we'll be fine to wait until December.
