  1. After a morning of planting tomatoes, and almost overheating (at my age thats a lot easier to do than I thought) I came in to rest and re-hydrate. I got on utube and watched video of Kessler for probably an hour. I honestly didn't know he was that good. I saw UNC play some last season and when he came in, he looked out of place and frankly, overhyped. The video that I saw this morning says otherwise. There is a pretty long vid of him going against Jabari Smith in high school and its just, hot damn awesome. Those two put on a show in that game. I watched videos of Kessler in his late season games where he got more playing time and he looked a total opposite of the games that I saw him play live. He is much more agile than I thought.

    J. Smith will only be here one year because he is something special and I am very quickly taking that position with Kessler. 3 days ago I didn't give a s*** where Kessler went because I was of the mind that he was an overhyped attention *****. I stand corrected on at least one of those. He ain't overhyped. He might like all the attention but thats okay by me after watching these videos.

The little PG Green? That guy is going to be special, too. I think BP stole one right there. I see a little bit of Cooper and Harper in him. Give us one more SG and we are set up nicely.

Hooks has insinuated that Thor is not coming back, so that is a bit of a downer there. Hooks is wrong on occasion, but not often. It would be nice if this is one of those times

I’ve wanted to land this kid the whole time - there’s something about him that tells me he’s going to be very good. I just don’t think we have a spot for him.

If everyone stays, I would personally sign this kid and a backup point by guard and send Javon Franklin packing.

I watched a few videos early this morning while trying to adjust to the time change, and the guy from Northeastern that is in the portal,Tyson Walker, looks like he could play in the SEC for about anybody. To me, he looks like a guard that should be the one to make  say "no" several times before giving up. Again, nobody puts out bad highlights, but he looks better than the C of C guard

  3. The interview Powell gave makes no sense, unless you read the last paragraph real close. It was conducted by Travis Branham, and it says virtually nothing useful until that last paragraph. Its 24/7 material so I won't post it verbatim, but seems like he might not like the team concept too much. Maybe I'm reaching, but if him and daddy didn't like AU basketball being bigger than them, so be it. I'm now interested in BP offering the 5* RB, Henderson a BB schollie. Is he that good?

When the dust settles, I'm afraid everyone gonna find out @chizhead isn't too far off base. Just wait and see.

Its not me, its what I'm reading from others. I only have suspicions based on circumstantial evidence, adding up what I read and hear. I suspect that Powell will not be missed when we find out the truth

So many stories & contradictions on this thing it's hard to know what's real.

See, thats the biggest problem. On this forum, I know that you and WDE are "money" and what you guys write will be pretty close to being on point. Ya'll have proven that what you say can be trusted. Golf,BB and RIR are pretty spot on,also. On 24/7, I just don't know them well enough. Dude that calls himself "LocalTiger" seems to be respected. The guys like King,Neibur,Murphy, etc are obvious but they are so careful and guarded with what they say, I usually find out on AUF before they write about it. I just want to know the truth. Did his daddy sell to the highest bidder? Was there tampering? If this is based solely on a medical issue then I wish them well and hope he gets on his feet. If there were nefarious dealings that went on, then **** you! I just can't shake King and Murphy's attitude of,"its best for both parties" and "5 schools in 6 years" comments. There is Hooks45's LACK of a comment that is puzzling, also. How did UK fans know about the transfer before anyone at AU? You can explain it away by reaching and grasping, but those UK fans were fans just like us,average fans with few or no connections. A free forum called "Rupps Rafters"....I read the comments myself

If my freshman kid had that serious of an injury, I’d want him closer. Maybe there’s more to it, but that much I understand.

TT, nobody is doubting that part and all will agree with you 100%...Its evident that much more went on,now. Exactly "what" is the question. A caller on " The Drive" with Bill Cameron called in on Monday and said that everybody was being much too compassionate toward this kid. He didn't elaborate, but he was not a caller that I recognized and I listen almost every day. Then I see a couple of posts on 24/7 about a fight. I read on Rupps Rafters over 2 weeks ago about Powell transferring. I did not pay attention to it as I had not heard or read a thing on any AU site about it, other than ONE POST on 24/7 a while ago that said Powells career at AU was over. Again, I didn't take it seriously. Now, its all adding up to be more than just a "I love my baby" type thing. Powell will have played at 5 different schools in the last 6 years, and I didn't know that either. If you sniff the air and catch a whiff of a skunk, ain't much doubt that a skunk is close by and it will look like John Calipari

  7. MM has made the reference several times to "5 schools in 6 years"......I have been suspicious of this since the news broke of the transfer and UK is and has always been the basketball version of updyke U. This many moves means that either Powell and family keep getting paid or he is a mama's boy and has to have his way or he'll take his ball and go home. I have only read various posters on 24/7, but one with a good rep, adamantly says that the fractured skull came from a fight. Look, I don't know, but there is so much skewed about this story that something is going on,or went on. I figure that JGT will be the first to confirm the truth, since 24/7 is going to be factual before they publish anything. I regret making Powell my favorite player now. I'll wait but it'll probably be Cardwell or Thor now

  8. Mark Murphy says he hears Powell’s dad came to AU and without warning told the AU staff Justin was transferring. Also the decision was final and didn’t want to have any more discussions with the coaches about the decision. MM was also told the AU staff was blindsided and disappointed by the situation in addition to still trying to figure out exactly what the world had just happened.

@chizhead This may seam like a foreign & awkward concept but my understanding is the softball pitching motion is more anatomically advantagous for the body & puts less wear & tear on the shoulders than the baseball pitching motion. Softball gurus please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Thats what I was told, that the underhand motion does not wear on the arm muscles and joints like an unnatural overhand motion does,BUT, its a long year and Shelby's daddy has been our vet for a very long time. I remember when Shelby was born. I just don't want to see something go wrong and adversly affect her career

Also I don't get this concern y'all are having about wearing their arms out

E, I'm an old baseball guy who was good enough to get scouted by a couple of MLB teams and three SEC schools, AU being one. I was not good enough for them to sign me, but good enough to get a look from them. I was mentored by a guy (RIP) who did two brief stints in the majors. All I know is pitching in terms of baseball and its always about the arm. I am trying to learn about pitching in softball. Remember, like you, I thought a riseball was similar to a two seam fast ball. Sam has given me a short course on it, but I find it amazing that they can get that kind of velocity on a much larger ball without going over the top, and get that kind of movement. I probably threw in the high 80"s on my best day, and these girls are hitting 70-72 according to the gun and they do that throwing underhand with a locked elbow. I had no idea

Justin to a school they want him at.

So, its sounding like somebody got paid. 5 different schools in 6 years? Get a transfer guard,(PG or CG) or two from the portal and play bigboy ball and Powell will become an afterthought. AU is way bigger than any player

I can understand and I agree.  Right now, Dean is using 3 pitchers and that concerns me.  The SEC season is a grind and he runs the risk of letting our 2 best pitchers get arm weary before the season really gets going.

Let me be clear, I brought up the subject, not him. I thought Shelby pitched entirely too many innings last week. I was really shocked when he pitched her two days in a row,AFTER spelling Penta the day before that. Handley is supposed to be pretty good, right? Yarbourgh has control issues, but the only way to get her back into the groove is to let her pitch herself into it. She is not going to get better on the bench. Doc said the team can hit better than they have shown, and I do see some signs of that because they have begun to swing the bat with a lot more contact now. Garcia is an error waiting to happen, but she is hitting the ball on the nose now. Surely, surely, Dean won't try to pitch Shelby tonight?

Yep.  She is now and is going to be fun to watch.

Sam, we have DB's on the football team that ain't as fast as her. Hey, I just got back from the vet and talking to a proud daddy and a gloriously giddy mama. I told her about me becoming a serious fan of their baby and going back to listen to and re-watch every pitch that she has made this season. Doc was busy, so I didn't get to talk a lot, but he is concerned,a little bit, about Dean overworking her. He said that when the ball movement declines, she needs to come out because that a sign that her arm is getting tired. There are enough pitchers, I think, that one should not have to pitch as many as Shelby pitched last week

  14. Poster on the Ticket Board this morning said that his parents were going through a nasty divorce, so if that is true, factor that into the equation. Ellitor, check your PM, if that is true, it might explain things. Sounds like he might have depressed. You have to suspect tampering because many people knew this would happen............except us
