What does his future look like? He is so small... I think it was his first time in, their guard backed him down into the paint. Aden was doing his best, but he simply couldn't slow him. On offense, he has stopped trying to drive the ball because of the blocks.... Maybe more Denver at point and Aden at 2?
Moving Aden to the 2, as many think would happen next season, doesn’t fix the defensive liabilities. Ultimately his future as a CBB player remains at the 1. He has serious talent that you can’t teach, but in addition to being small right now he’s seemingly in a bad place mentally.
With Tre’s emergence and Tahaad coming in, my money is on a transfer. It would be really incredible to see him stick around and get some time in the weight room, but that’s not usually how this plays out now.

Hopefully Aden can get going sooner rather than later. If not Tre should be playing more minutes.
I take absolutely no pleasure in saying this, but the odds on Aden playing for Auburn next season can’t be better than even money.

I don't get the "play 11" dig. He obviously didn't watch the Rick Pitino UK teams of the 1990"s.
It’s just not really done at the high major level anymore. Ultimately unless you have 10-11 equally good it means fewer minutes for your best players. In close games those minutes make a difference.

From a neutral friend tuning in “You guys play 11? That’s hilarious!!”
Even with the rotations, we’re fine. No one wins those on the road.

Looking around the league Arkansas looks terrible so I’m sure they’ll be great by the time we play them. Alabama looks good. Allen Flanigan is going to have a monster season for Ole Miss with the rule change on offensive charges. That Blue Cain kid looks great at UGA but their team looks pretty bad. I don’t know where Auburn stacks up in the SEC, maybe 4-6. It’ll all be about who gets better and who gets worse. SEC looks solid overall. I haven’t watched much. I wish we were a better rebounding team but we are passing the ball well.
UGA isn’t great this year, but sadly that may come to an end soon. They’re really recruiting. Has always been baffling that they didn’t routinely get more top talent there. They’re sitting on a gold mine.

He’s averaging 19 points, 7 rebounds, an assist, a block, two steals, and two turnovers per game. He’s having a good season so far.
His shooting is still bad. The difference is he’s getting (literally) double the shots now. Which is what he wanted, so in that sense the move has worked for him.

An underrated problem with the substitutions is that it’s impossible to develop chemistry. Bruce is really overthinking things.
-
We should handle business tonight, we’re favored by 15.
Bruce said there might be a hostile pro-ND environment. Trust me, the most hostile thing about the environment tonight will be the empty seats. As long as we get up for the game we should move on to an interesting matchup tomorrow (I’ll predict OK State). -

Notre dame next. Definitely a beefy preseason schedule
As luck would have it, ND should be one of the worst teams in the P5 this season. We have a nice opportunity to get on a roll and win out up to the USC game.

Games like this are the time to experiment.
You aren’t wrong. But we did some of this against Baylor as well. It’ll probably work itself out.
Hoping Chaney and Denver come into their own a bit more in the 2nd half.

Bruce has hamstrung us a bit with his lineups.
Playing Aden with the 2nd unit seems smart - you give them an offensive creator - but it means fewer good looks for our other two best shooters, CBM and Denver.
Our best lineup is Johni, Jaylin, CBM, Denver and Aden. The less they play together the worse this team will be.

Since the post-game thread is locked I’ll leave this here: CBM played half of the minutes CMo did, with significantly better production. Seems clear he needs to be on the floor. Made some mistakes but he has a gear CMo just doesn’t.

So the announcers sound happy that Baylor tied it up. Hmmm
Close games are fun! (If you aren’t a fan of one of the teams. This is painful.)

He needs to play in the paint and let Broome pass him the ball. He is deadly in the paint. But it seems to be out of sync when he and Broome are in there.
In two seasons starting he has averaged nearly identical 11ppg/4.7rbg. He is what he is.

All you have to do is drive if you are Baylor. Thay have had a foul called on like the last 67 drives to the basket.
They’re doing a better job of forcing calls. We need to adjust and do the same, given officiating.

Don’t know if y’all heard, but that Walter kid is a star in the making.
In fairness, he may be the #1 pick after this game. 😂

The end of that half is about as good as you can play.

Denver’s shot is beautiful. Getting cooked on the other end though.

Am I seeing right, that we're a 1.5 point favorite?
Yup, line moved from +2 to -1.5.

Need him as close to 100% for Baylor to have a chance. That's going too really give us an early look at what we have on this team
Their backcourt is better than ours. Need Johni to dominate inside, I think.

Omoruyi had us as a finalist out of HS, so maybe there’s something there. But, St John’s is seen as the heavy favorite - he’s a local kid and may want to stay local. Given interest and how hard it is to find elite bigs, I would expect his price to be among the highest in the portal.
