  1. As far as bad leader or bad teammate, anyone who thought that way probably got the idea from pay site "insiders", like say BMatt (not specifically him but folks like him)

Hate to say, but at this point who can win at those three?

Vandy has won in Athens twice since the last time Auburn won there! But seriously your point is well taken, since 2017 UGA has only lost one home game (South Carolina).

The perfect summary of AU futility in Athens  - in 2016 (Kirby first year) UGA lost to Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech at home. Both were unranked. But Auburn comes into Athens ranked #8 and loses 13-7.  I think that was the game where Sean White's arm fell off and Gus didn't notice.

now to sell my left kidney…

So if his NIL deal is really in the 1.2 million range like has been speculated (no idea if accurate) it will take 5,288 subscribers to OTV to pay for it!

this was a good interview.  That being said he got some facts wrong, he said it was around the South Carolina game the story broke.  It was before the Georgia game.  He said he had to play the LSU game etc. with this hanging over him.  Unless Maybe Chizik heard it was coming and it was kept quiet for 4-5 weeks?   Also he indicated he was ineligible for a game and missed a game, I know we declared him ineligible before the Georgia game and I think the NCAA made him eligible immediately due to the fact it was his dad that took the money.    I don't think he missed a game though.

More curious if I am remembering the events correctly or not?

It's all a blur but I do remember when the story broke right before the Georgia game it was reported that the sec had already been investigating or at least aware of it for a "couple months". I assume the SEC office would have told Chizik right away.

I also thought Cam said he was suspended for one day not one game but I skipped around a little and might have missed parts.

  5. So crazy that Calipari arrives at Arkansas and has only one returning player on the roster - a walk-on. Every single other player has either graduated, is out of eligibility, declared for the draft, or entered the transfer portal. Every. Single. One.

Also apparently Scott Drew has said no to UK.

  6. Just to attach some numbers to mediocrity and nuthin

Last year Auburn finished 36th in the Directors Cup (a more or less overall ranking of a school's athletic teams performances)

That was 10th in the SEC (Texas and Oklahoma finished higher than us too if you are looking to the future)

    2 Texas

    5 Florida

    6 Tennessee

    7 Georgia

    9 LSU

    12 Alabama

    13 Arkansas

    18 Kentucky

    23 Oklahoma

    24 Texas A&M

    33 South Carolina

    36 Auburn

    39 Ole Miss

    50 Missouri

    56 Vanderbilt

    57 Mississippi State

How long has it been since we have pretty much zero info from scrimmages and practices. Yes, I know our insiders are doing the best to keep us informed. But fact is, I feel like I have never had LESS info regarding Spring Practice for years. Am I missing something?

Complete speculation on my part and possibly (probably?) way off base, but I wonder if this is the start of a transition to a model where access and info moves behind an OTV membership paywall.

Bruce’s first season he was 5-13 in conference and 11-20 overall.

good to get his expertise. Relax on CHF’s first (or even second) season.

Actually wasn't that his SECOND year? Also he didn't get above .500 in SEC play until year four.

One of the toughest regions in recent memory. If we were all in different regions, a Final Four of UConn, Iowa State, Illinois, and Auburn wouldn't raise an eyebrow. You could even throw SDSU in the mix- they made it from a similar position last year. And don't sleep on teams like UAB either, they could beat anybody on a given day. All of the top 5 teams are well-coached talented, tough, physical teams that play outstanding defense. Much respect to all the teams in our region. I will be pulling for whoever comes out of it (hopefully us, of course 😊).

Conference tournament champions from Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, and SEC all in same region. That's 4 of the top 5 conferences in the country according to most every metric

Not sure u would say he played well. If we scanned multiple SEC game threads most comments wouldn’t say he didn’t played very well. The point guard position is probably the most glaring issue on the team if we being honest

I sometimes read the game thread from beginning to end when I couldn't watch live and have yet to see the score, just to kinda get a feel for how the game unfolded. Inevitably based on the game thread I assume we lost by 20 only to eventually see the final score and find out we won by 20.

I would suggest people do what I'm doing a watch a few games before coming up with analysis of a players game. Things like feeling like a guy isn't a good shooter or is an awesome shooter......I mean it's just not any conclusions you can really come to. I could point out numerous guys we have done that for in the past but I don't want to start any arguments.

Also once again new guys so yes you should expect that guys who have been in the system may move faster or seem more fluid as opposed to a guy that's just playing here. You should more look at the decisions they are making as opposed to the actual execution.

Things like a guy wanting the ball or a guy not backing down is more what you should be watching now.

Last thought from me so far is last year when I saw we signed Chaney and CBM I wrote and said to everyone how good these guy's are will be the most important thing to our identity defensively. I still feel that way now, actually I feel even stronger about that prediction. Those 2 guys and Holloway, so those 3 guys development will tell most of the story as far as how good this team can be.

Hey cole curious if you have some more updated thoughts on the team at this point. If you've posted them elsewhere let me know.

@ertrader I'll cross reference the players when I got off work to see if they are HS or transfer rankings.

oh gosh I definitely was not asking you to do more work than you guys already do! It was as much a general question about how much effort the recruiting sites put into reevaluating all these transfers, as well as how accurate they can be given that 1000+ players hit the portal in the last few days.
