I don't consider myself an "insider" just someone who has worked at Auburn going on 17 years, served on university governance (and numerous committees appointed by the president) and tries to share what I hear/know as long as it doesn't threaten my position at my beloved AU. I recently found out how some people on this campus view sharing public information. That being said.....I don't think anyone knows what's going on inside the walls of Samford Hall other than a very small handful of people. I am a proponent of Dr. Roberts, having worked with him many times over my 17-year career. He's methodical, calculated and has a high bar with expectations that mirror what we all want.

Failures by Steven Leath continue to haunt Auburn. Academically we are in a very good place. I know we all want some solutions (I live the AU life everyday....right now it's like being lost in a forest) with the football program and I hope we get some soon but, in the meantime, we have to suck it up and drive on. There will be a new AD soon....and a new HC. Until then we have to put some faith in the "process" and hope the people in charge get it right. All I can tell you right now.

    Thanks for your insight 🐅

  2. We celebrated this weekend for two reasons. My wife’s 71st birthday (class of’75) and the hedge game! Met at our daughter’s with her family in the Queen City plus our oldest grandson drove back from Furman University and even our youngest son flew down from South Orange, NJ!!

Everyone decked out in our school colors hopefully seeking a close match of competition! As the game proceeded one by one each member quietly got up without any comments and left the room not even in returning to check the score. As an old coach in the past I would yell about a bone-headed play call or player’s actions (or lack of). Finally I surrendered and left the room to enjoy my family and continue celebrating my wife’s birthday.

Many times I can recall after a tough loss coaching a high school game I’d be so hot I wanted to go home and scream at the wife and kids and kick the **** outta the dog! This I NEVER DID! It’s an old expression I recall Coach Jordan saying. Many an old coach would recall that old saying.

The game ended and  I didn’t get hot, scream at everyone and didn’t kick the pea soup outta Tucker my sporting dog and companion! Sadly I absolutely felt nothing. I can’t recall having an emotionless response to an Auburn game.

Good luck to my Auburn Tiger Family upon the remaining schedule! And please don’t kick the dog!

  3. Just jumped into this dialogue and voted for Bob Stoops. Noticed he’s not very popular now. Of course he’s been out of circulation but he has SEC experience, great motivator, recruiting magnet, national championship experience, morals are impeccable and a sound X’s and O’s boy!

Maybe the alum, boosters and political crowd could entice him into returning to this wonderful game! He certainly fits the Auburn Creed and Auburn Characteristics!

Now don’t  all y’all youngsters blow my tail feathers off with this ole man’s suggestion! Love my 🐅

  4. As to the SEC announcer the former LSU player’s leaning towards OSU, I mute them and listen to Auburn’s broadcasting team plus monitor the site’s stats page. Our crew provides a wonderful insight without all the garbage and word salad comments from the ESPN/SEC commentators. ON TO OMAHA!

  5. None of these boys, it’s the Esso Club! I’m a Palmetto Boy and was a Carolina Tiger since my older brother was a tight end for Coach Howard plus our Dad was a football official for both SEC and ACC.

    But there’s only one Toomers!

  6. This staff will need at least 4to 5 years to become truly competitive for conference championships. Recruiting shall remain paramount factoring Bama, Georgia, Clemson, LSU, TA&M, Florida plus new schools Texas & Oklahoma! Ole Miss and MSU have momentum too! Question is what is our university willing to sacrifice to build a premier college football program at Auburn University!
