I remember those 2 games. It was so frustrating watching their QB run and escape pressure play after play. We would have 2 guys bringing him down for a sack and he would slip out and gain a 1st down. Just off the top of my head, I think his name was Reggie Ball. I'm not sure what happened to him after his Georgia Tech days but I know he gave us hell the 2 times we played them.
It was Reggie Ball and if I remember right he wanted to come to AU

If we could put the money back in the pot I’d say let him go and get olinemen. Hunter and Alston will do fine.
I'm guessing there's enough for both

That would be wild. I wonder if a fired HC has ever returned to the school they were fired from as a OC/DC/Position Coach?
Explain this. We still talking about Muschamp?

Reported salary is 6.5 million for 6 years
Saw that. I think we could have gotten him cheaper.

A good portal and recruiting class and it's over. Now if those things are bad watch out. The naysayers will jump

Coastal Carolina joined FCS in 2017, one year before Liberty, and Costal the last 3 years in the Sunbelt has gone, 11-1, 11-2, and 9-3.
If winning at a brand new FBS team is super mazing then we should have hired Coastal Carolina's coach because they've been doing a bit better than even Liberty has.
What were those first 3 season like?

I am not an average poster. I give credit when it is do. But, a three game losing streak to those teams, does not equal the rep damage to Auburn's brand.
Think of it this way. If North Dakota State suddenly went to FBS. Would you expect them to make a bowl game every year they were eligible. The only people that knew about Liberty before Freeze, either went there or lived in close proximity.

Conference affiliations[edit]
Liberty has been both independent and affiliated with one conference.[2]
- NAIA Independent (1973–1980)
- Division II Independent (1981–1987)
- Division I-AA Independent (1988–2001)
- Big South Conference (2002–2017)
- FBS Independent (2018–present)
- Conference USA (2023–)[15]
Thanks for proving what I just said

If anyone is questioning the mans coaching ability just remember Saban tried to hire him as Co-OC

As long as the money is flowing once again, Auburn is going to get some players. This wasn't my first choice but probably the best we could do. Hope this man has the success that Pearl has had with his second chance

Im the same way but they would let him resign like they did Tubbs instead.
I actually think he would step down if things were going that bad. I think he loves Auburn that much.

And malzahn said we beat the dog $hit out of Georgia when we beat them. So freaking what. It's what coaches do in the emotion of it all. Tuberville held up 6 fingers.
It's a little different. He was the coach at Clemson and said roll tide after beating us. Like I said, I think he is a great coach and would be a great hire. I'm just not sure he is the best fit for AU.
And for the record: Gus never cussed. He said 'crap"

All the Sean Payton talk. Does he like recruiting?
Not sure but he took a bunch 6th graders that ordered pizza during games to the ship.

I may be remembering wrong but didn't Dabo say roll tide after beating us? He's a great coach but may not be the best fit here.

Hmm.
From the Clemson website:
COACHING EXPERIENCE
Graduate assistant coach at Alabama (1993-95) … wide receivers/tight ends at Alabama (1996) … tight ends at Alabama (1997) … wide receivers at Alabama (1998-00) … wide receivers at Clemson (2003-06) … assistant head coach/wide receivers at Clemson (2007 – Oct. 13, 2008) … interim head coach/offensive coordinator at Clemson (Oct. 13 – Dec. 1, 2008) … head coach at Clemson (2009-present).Rob Spence was OC in 2007-2008 (first 6 games). After Bowden stepped down he helped call plays with Billy Napier as the Interim(2 moths). He shared assistant head coaching duties with Brad Scott for two years only for a pay increase. I stand corrected. You are technically correct.

If we went with the players' choice, we would still have Gus.
You mean the guy with over a decade of being an assistant at Alabama and Clemson who was the Associate Head Coach and an Offesive Coordinator before being named interim coach. Just a little different scenario but it was still a risky hire that happened to pay off. Botch this hire and you're irrelevant for another decade.
Maybe you need to refresh your Dabo history. He was never an OC or Assistant head coach. He did have more experience as a postion coach though.

Does no one remember a WR coach that was promoted to Interim and then head coach? You don't have to have been one to be one. Not saying LAC is the guy or should be but saying he isn't ready because he hasn't done it before is a little short sided.

I agree with an earlier post. Going to need to see video to have an informed opinion on the matter.
