I had been told that he was not staying the night. Did I have bad info? Either way, good that he stayed.

Where would we house a single recruit like this? It's a little different than having 30 kids in town. I thought about Him staying with Gus, and Kristi making him breakfast in bed and what not. That makes me cringe a little though.

Insider on TOS mentioned that he was staying the night, but it was unconfirmed.

This quote from Gus made me chuckle.

Malzahn on QB: "I'm not ready to name a starter right now. Possibly in the near future."

Thanks for the clarity of "possibly in the near future", Gus!

"We may or may not have a qb, possibly or possibly not. Or we just may not ever name a qb and go to battle without one. Allegedly."

i can almost hear the TV commentators for the Clemson game....

"....and the ball is snapped to...:no one.....it's on the ground and, not surprisingly it's another turnover.  That makes 17 straight possessions they have done that. Jesse, I gotta tell you, this offense may work better with a qb back there to take the snap....."

Why name a starting QB if you don't have to? If I were the head coach (which thank God I'm not, I'm not qualified to be), I wouldn't name one until they trotted out for the first snap. Naming a starter publicly does nothing but narrow down the number of things the opponent's defense has to prepare for. Privately, it can help a team rally around one guy, but that announcement can be done privately, it doesn't have to be public.

    Unless they get KB

This. Bayor's QB development has been one of the best in the country the past few years. Art Briles was obviously a big part of that, but Kendall has been the OC for the last few years. We'll see what their offense/play calling looks like this year, but I would wager that Kendall was a bigger part of their success than a lot of people realize.

I just hope that we really are planning on Kendall coming in as OC next year.

Neither QB played worth the dang. Both SW and JF3 were awful. No way to sugar coat it.

CP is a good back but lacks speed. Reminded me of PB. KM looked good. KJ didn't play much. Just limiting KJ's touches in the scrims.

    DL looked great.

    Hosley played great.

    E Stove looked good.

D blitzed quite a bit. Played a lot of man on man.

Seems to be some very good team chemistry. And the players all looked good on the hoof.

Need a QB. Real bad. Told SW looked a lot better the last scrim. And JF3 has ball security issues and can't pass.

    And SW is still small.

    It's only August

Non-EE Freshman should be reporting in for the firsr time correct?

I believe that this is correct. Those who were unable to make it for summer camp (examples being Nick Coe and Marlon Character) will officially report tomorrow.

Here's a tweet from Marlon about moving to Auburn:

  6. We need to jump on Austin and make him feel the Auburn love.

I don't know about y'all but where I'm from when people jump on you, you did not feel the love. You felt the pain & hate.

With your pic, I totally read this in Hulk Hogan's voice.

YOU DO NOT FEEL THE LOVE, BROTHER. YOU FEEL THE PAIN AND THE HAAAAATE.

You can do it w/ The Nature Boy too.

"I don't know about you but where I'm from pal when people jump on you, you did not feel the love. You felt the pain & hate...But then you got up, found some very lucky ladies, & gave them a ride on Space Mountain. WHOOOO!!!"

"I don't know about you but- wait... IS THAT JOHN CENA'S MUSIC?!?!?!?"

  7. His highlights look pretty dang good. He stands tall in the pocket and is very good at keeping his eyes downfield, but also seems to be able to feel the pressure around him. When he can set his feet and throw, his mechanics look pretty good to me, but when he starts moving out of the pocket, his throwing motion isn't as fundamentally sound.

Running wise it's kind of the same story. He looks like he used to be a running back, he keeps the ball high and tight and clearly puts an emphasis on protecting the football. One criticism I would give is that it looked like he wasn't incredibly fast, so I'd like to see him work on his straight line speed so that he can kick it into another gear and outrun some folks.

All in all, he'd be a huge pickup. A big time QB like this can help build the class around him, and that is a big BIG plus.
