Nix will call the plays that Hugh tells him to call - that’s how this will work. And I hope we beat the brains out of Ole Miss in Oxford next year. It’s time to be relentless and petty right back.

It would help if they were on the schedule. 😜

I am pretty bummed at not having a chance to give Lane the stomping he deserves though.

  2. Funny, I just asked two completely disparate audiences who they think it will be and both immediately came back with Dan Lanning. Maybe that had already been rumored if the retirement talk had any meat to it and I just wasn't paying attention then.

It's not that no one blitzed, but the D-lineman just stood there and made no attempt to rush the passer. Go watch the video. What in the ever-living h3ll were they thinking?

Honestly. I hated the rush 2 strategy, but at that point why not rush 0? Just put 11 DBs and WRs on the goal line and wait.

Interesting to note he thanked Malzahn and Freeze, but not the coach in the middle.

That is indeed interesting, kind of funny, but mostly sad. Not even sad for us as fans that had to endure those 2 years, but mostly sad for the players that had their college (and possibly pro) careers stunted or otherwise damaged by those two years.

    War Eagle Jaylin!

  5. Bear was more "lovable" than tolerable,  his replacement is downright awful, Corso is sad, McAfee is painful to watch, and Bulldog or not, they should not have dropped David Pollack.

I am kind of curious what the OP was trying to say here. That we could be at the top of the conference and dominating our opponents in a year or two? Sure. We could also be at the bottom, losing to Arkansas and MSU in a year or two by that logic.

My opinion is that he is simply saying there are no guarantees in this game regardless of who you hire. People want to pin a stigma on CHF that "we know who he is and he will always be that" as justification to not give us a chance or feel optimistic about a future under him, but look around at all the "sure thing" head coach hires and their current success (Jimbo, Dabo, Cristobal, etc) and it's obviously never that straightforward. The same people who want to assume Freeze's future at Auburn would likely have guaranteed A&M to have huge success when they hired Jimbo as well.

That rambling probably doesn't make much sense, but my dinner's ready. 😅

  7. I'm not going to fantasize about making the playoffs just yet, but if you're being honest getting into the top 12 is not all that lofty of a goal when you have 3 loss teams up in that range now. But those 3 losses can't be Bama/UGA/LSU and still expect to get there.

For next year, I "expect" improvement and we get Vandy along with an easier non-conference schedule, so I'll say 7 wins minimum, hoping for 8.

Why are people acting like his absolute dumptruck of baggage will not affect him as a recruiter?? I do not see a scenario where his baggage, alongside the immense outburst and hatred on social media will not destroy recruits' opinions of him and Auburn.

The negativity this has/is going to continue to cause will hurt recruiting so much. I don't care what you think about him as an X's and O's guy. The awful PR is going to show on the roster and he cannot win his way out of it. Just like Harsin couldn't win his way out of horrible recruiting and bad roster management.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. So far so good.

He had a terrible defense but coached his way right out of the pac 12 championship just 3 days ago. To a team that only completed 6 passes. Went for it on 4rth down 3 possessions in a row with the lead in the fourth quarter. That works when you have a healthy Nix. It doesn’t work when he is not a run threat.

Yep, not trying to pretend that didn't happen, but I'm also not going to hold one or two games in his first HC season against his future potential. Even the best coaches have made some boneheaded decisions a time or two, the hope is that the better ones will learn from them going forward.

All that said I doubt he leaves after his first year, but I'd be very excited about the hire if it came to that.

How close have you watch Oregon this year?

I see where you're going but I'm not really basing that opinion on his results in a first year at Oregon, would have been a good hire even straight out of being Kirby's DC for a couple years along with his recruiting skills. A year of HC experience only helps that.

I researched his past on my own. I don't listen to the twitter world when formulating my decisions. I've seen some wild posts about Danny Hugh. Has he made mistakes? Sure he has. His wife has forgiven him. He don't need forgiveness from me . Also, I hear chatter about recruits moms won't trust him or find him sleezy. I got news for those folks. What happened with Freeze and his family is real life stuff. It happens in the real world. All families,  including recruits families deal with real life stuff. Maybe different stuff than Hugh, but still still the same. If I was a recruits parent. I would much rather the coach say look... " I've messed up in my past." Instead of " Look at me, I'm perfect,  do it my way". I've kidded around on here alot about ol Danny Hugh, but I believe in 2nd chances.  Danny Hugh is outward with his faith which only magnifies the venom spewed toward him when he makes mistakes. It's the way of the world ..People of faith mess up...It happens. But he should be afforded to make a mends just like anyone else.. sorry for the long post. Just wanted to answer your ? the best I could.

Clearly you don't subscribe to modern day cancel culture.
