  1. Less than 50% chance?  Regardless, get the new basketball facility started already!

    Bruce Pearl, Auburn

Parrish got to May first, so an acknowledgement right here that he makes a lot of sense and I do believe May will be among the 3-4 coaches at the top of Ohio State's list. In the interest of keeping this list varied and eclectic, I'll offer up Bruce Pearl for discussion. I recently traveled to Auburn and spent some one-on-one time with Pearl; he was willing to go on the record about his potential candidacy on the carousel this year. At 63, I believe that IF Pearl is going to take one more move, it will be this year or next. Likelihood? I'd go under 50% for this year as of March 6, but a lot changes in this month. Ohio State should put Pearl on its list of targets. He is built to build up programs and has coached winners (and made a Final Four) twice in the SEC. His force of personality is matched maybe — maybe — by five other coaches in the game. He's won big at a football-first institution before (Tennessee) and turned Auburn into a near-annual Top 25 program. So long as Ohio State's power brokers are good with having a big-name coach bringing in a lot of attention, Pearl's got the wins (670 of them) and charisma to inject a lot of hope into a top-25 job in the sport. -- Matt Norlander

  2. Awesome game. Another Reid and Mahomes game winning drive clinic. TD was a variant of the final drive 4th and 1 conversion but with a different receiver. Would love to see AU put it in our arsenal because it’s very difficult to defend.

If you don't agree, tell me who you think is? The baseball coach you just slammed, the softball coach that just lost in the regional round for like the fifth time in a row it seems, or the mostly unproven football HC in his first year?

    'I'm listening'...

I’m not touting a best HC. They’re all class folks but streaky because it boils down to player leadership in my opinion. Our coaches put trust in the players to perform at a high level but the players aren’t complementing their coaches trust.  We’re missing player development and player leadership in all major sports for some reason. I have no idea why our beloved sports teams can’t excel but it gets frustrating nonetheless.

  4. Someone said CBT was our best HC in all sports?   We’re 0-4 in the last, most impactful games (SEC championship , CWS playoff-series). What am I missing?  I’m not in favor of a HC change, but wtf?  Why can’t we compete?  Are we too young and  everyone is returning next year or are we having to replace half the baseball roster?  No player leadership?  Why the late season surge and the end of season collapse?

I agree, it's quality not quantity. We went 2010 with just Bynes mostly. He was a warrior. We had Stevens too and he was pretty good but he got hurt

Bynes was/is a beast!  Didn’t he start as a true freshman?  He’s still in the NFL with the Ravens. We haven’t had many LBs that good and that durable. He’s been able to stay healthy for a long time. He’s up there with Mike Kolen and Gregg Carr for favorites at AU in my book.

Are they good though? That's the question

How many of our LBs would start on any SEC team much less the top four conference teams?  The answer to this question will speak volumes regarding the “must have” for quality LBs.

I do not believe he has shown any signs of change.  We are taking a huge risk with this hire.

Now honestly, are you allowing yourself to be deceived because,,, you want to extend the love and mercy of Jesus or,,, because you want to win football games?

Time to go home Sargeant Carter.

  8. Anna Davis picks a college

Cameron Jourdan for Golfweek…“Anna Davis has decided where she wants to play college golf.”

“The 16-year-old who won the Augusta National Women’s Amateur in April announced Monday she has committed to the Auburn women’s golf program via her Instagram account. Davis posted a photo with Tigers’ coach Melissa Luellen and assistant Kim Hall.”

“Last week, Davis’ twin brother, Billy, committed to play for the Auburn men….However, whether Davis ever makes it to Auburn remains to be seen. She could turn professional before ever teeing it up for the Tigers. The early signing period for her class is next November.”

Did you happen to see College Gameday's segment with Bo Nix last week? It was good and Bo said that he was "just through with it" last season at Auburn. He said it wasn't fun at all and it always seemed to be something every week. From that I'm pretty sure he was talking about every week there was different drama going on.

I've got to agree that ever since Harsin came to Auburn, it's been nonstop drama. I just want it to end. The sooner, the better.

The Harsinogen effect. He’s a cancer to our beloved football program.

May have been covered here  when current facility was getting built, but should it have been bigger? Bammer and others in SEC besides KY have gyms almost twice our size. As great as the atmosphere is in the Jungle now how hard would it be for visiting teams with 5,000 more screaming maniacs?

Bet it would be bigger if just being built now- but wonder if there are any thoughts for 5-10 yrs down the line, with Bruce set now and a winning tradition likely ahead, to be thinking about a bigger arena?

Then again the Athletic Dept. lost money this year.

Don’t disagree with any of this. Prior AU leadership didn’t have “Pearl Vision”!

I think we will be fine next year. In fact we just might be better than fine. Spring practice will start and everyone will begin settling in and going to work.

How many of you remember the woeful 1991 and 1992 season records of 5-6 and 5-5-1, respectively?  Yeah, it was at the end of CPD’s tenure with NCAA investigations, but the next year was SPECIAL. With basically the same roster, new CTB led AU to an 11-0 season and Jim Fiffe’s vintage “11-0, 11-0”.

AU was in EVERY game in 2021 with the exception of UGa.  We haven’t seen this competitiveness in many years from our football team and that was great to see.  However, the end result of our record is not what we wanted.  All of this to say that I fully expect the 2022 record to be much better than 2021 and trending upward after CBH clears the team of uncommitted players and coaches. Support CBH.  Support Auburn Football. WDE!

  12. Looking forward to Coach Davis teaching our QBs proper ball placement. Like the missed 2-point conversion in the IB. WR has the CB beat by a step or two. TJ throws at the receiver and its picked. Lead our receiver properly and it’s completed. Just little things to correct but it’s been death by a thousand cuts for a team that can’t close games after earning double digit leads. 🦅🦅🦅
