In my opinion, is Auburn-Florida.
With OU and Texas coming, and Auburn switching to the East once again becoming a topic, I wanted to spotlight this rivalry that almost no one talks about anymore.
The two schools have met 84 times. For reference, the Iron Bowl has been played 85 times. Florida is 5th on Auburn's list of most all time matches. For Florida, we are the 2nd most played game in school history, trailing only UGA.
The rivalry is tied 25-25 since 1957. Throw in the recruiting battle history (Emmitt Smith), historic upsets, and a guy named Cam Newton. There's a lot to love.
Why isn't this game more revered than it is? Why aren't both schools fighting to preserve it?
The NCAA record book lists Auburn as a national champion in 1913, 1957, 1983, 1993 and 2010. You can add 2004 for a total of 6 we have every right to claim. Others also list 1910 and 1914 as well and they have a great case.

Ben Leard. Very accurate and smart. Those would play well in Harsin's offense. Need an oline though. If it had to be with this group, I would need Cam.
Lawyer Tillman. If you followed Auburn in the 80s you know why.

Why? has he ever been hurt? I don't recall it.
Yeah apparently he had an injury that limited him in the weight room in 2019 and then they were no allowed for much of the offseason in 2020.

Unless he's gotten stronger, he gets whipped too much at center. Unless there is not many veteran centers returning, I expect someone else to show up and be 1st team center, but not Brahms...
This might have been addressed. From what I have read, he was not able to do the necessary work in the weight room until this offseason. With the new training staff, I am hoping he as able to be much stronger at the point of attack. You are right, that has been one of his biggest issues. Hopefully the emphasis on getting stronger (strange that was not the focus before) will help across the LOS.

I still can't get over someone 6'4 playing corner at a high level.

How?
Don't you have to sign up and check in with a network provider to do this?
Nope. Go here. It is right on the ESPN+ website.

Well, if I am understanding the Hulu offer (for example) it's $65.00/mo before adding the sports package.
To me, that's the equivalent of subscribing to a cable network.
(FWIW, I get my TV from over-the-air broadcasts using a rotator antenna. That gives me all the major stations plus 4 channels of PBS plus a lot more free entertainment channels. Bottom line, I get all the (free) TV I have time for.)
Gotcha. You can skip HULU and pay for ESPN+ by itself for about $7 a month.

Well, I suppose that would solve my access problem (too many trees for satellite), but you're still left with subscribing to what is essentially a cable network in order to get sports (which costs extra).
I don't want the network, just sports.
I just cut cable then purchase the streaming services you want. Sure I don't get animal planet and E!, but I get through it.

Watched the second quarter, they’re O is awful!
QB with history of 36 TOS in the last 3 years. Gave up fumble foe TD. Hard to imagine that historic program can’t draw any better talent.
They used to recruit in California quite a bit and they were early adopters of steroid use. They don't get much talent in Neb, and so the game caught up and then passed them by.

... you are joking, right?
Nope. He lied about Tyler Siskey talking to UA coaches even though it was on camera. He refuses to release actual scholarship numbers. He lied about giving 4 year scholarships when Auburn started doing it. Those are just off the top of my head. Why wouldn't he lie about vaccinations? There are not repercussions for lying.

How did Saban get almost 100% rate?
Since when does Saban follow rules? Who would trust them to give accurate info?

Interesting that Brahms is second team. I don't think I've ever seen a player so positively looked by the media and so negatively evaluated here.
Even having two guys all sec on the o line is interesting in that regard.
Hamm was 2nd team coach's All-SEC last year. Don't really understand why he is 3rd team this year.

Show Boise St beating FSU on the road with a freshman QB. That gives me more hope than anything I saw last year. In fact I recently re-watched the MSU, UT and Tex AM games from last year. Very discouraging. Not a ton of highlights in that batch and it did not include USC, UA, or UGA.
Good Luck A96!

Gus also seemed to have very few rub routes, and called them rarely.
This always othered me. Everyone uses these liberally and successfully. The refs almost never call it. Just stupid not to use.

Probably the biggest problem with the Gus era was this. Had they scored TD’s more often than FG’s we may have had a couple more 10+ win seasons.

We've had a good run of Linebackers of late. Its great to see. Looking for big things from this group. Its a good sign when our LBs are leading tacklers than safeties or corners. One of these guys could be a Butkus Finalist!
Thanks TWill. Linebacker was an issue before he started recruiting.

What I hope happens is no longer having to watch pandemonium strike the sideline coaching staff, wasting time getting the play in, coming to the line of scrimmage and not understanding the play, having a bunch of wasted motion. Then realizing the play clock is about to expire and calling timeout and allowing the opponent to rest and get a defensive call in after tipping our hand with a formation.
Like Harsin or not, you cannot argue the man is not organized. We will find out if his plan works, but the man has a plan he is sticking to. I would be surprised if we ever see this kind of confusion on the sidelines next season.

I've only got vague answers right now on how i hope it will be improved. But i'm hoping the use of TEs will be helpful in the redzone. Both from a pass catching perspective and from running 2 TE heavy sets. Gus used heavy sets but would bring in an extra OT which did nothing to keep the back end of the defense from crashing the play. I'm also hoping running from under center and having a more downhill running game will help. Fewer play calls where the running lane needs to develop instead of just having the RB hit the hole at full speed and if you only get 3 yards per play that is still enough to move the chains.
Tight ends in the red zone will be the most visible change.

That's unfortunate. I really hate to keep harping on the guy, but I agree, he is not a tackle at all. In fact, I would say our RT is weaker than the LT options, despite LT getting most of the press. Let Hamm compete with Jones. Throw Coffey or Council out there, whatever needs to be done. I know our identity is going to be a downhill team, and Hamm is a better run blocker than Coffey, but we cannot function with constant pressure. Bo obviously does not handle pressure well, so I think we have to go with Coffey, who did well in pass pro last year. If you go with Hamm, they need to give him constant tight end help
I would prefer to have Hamm and Council on the inside, but that requires someone to step up at tackle. Coffey was not terrible last year and he is bigger now, but we have not heard any scoop about him grabbing the opportunity. Not exactly encouraging for the whole line discussion.

I'm guessing they'll sit down on Friday night after the scrimmage and try to finalize a two deep. I would also guess they are closer to having it down for defense than offense. Probably wanted it looking more clear by now, but some of the performances during the scrimmage have made them have to keep competition open. Specifically o-line, that seems to be the biggest question mark. Looks like they really shuffled things up yesterday, and I can't say I blame them
Auburn Undercover podcast hinted that Hamm was absent (possibly Covid related). That is the reason Coffey was running 1st team. I am hoping Coffey can take the RT position and Hamm moves inside. Hamm does not seem to have the feet for the position.

i tell ya what. if we do not start practicing the same kids in the same positions on the line i am going to be super worried. we have less than three weeks and they are still moving them around and that does not appear to be a very long window to jell before we play. i know we have a couple patsies coming up but it is getting me nervous.
I would not be surprised if a line is settled on after the scrimmage on Friday, at least the starters for Akron. We just need to have everyone in place by AL State. There might still be a position or two being decided in the first game, so don't be surprised if there is some shuffling the first game.

This certainly matches what we saw in the video posted this summer of the oline not knowing who to block. Just not blowing assignments and letting free runners through will be a big improvement. Of course some of the videos I have seen from practice are not that encouraging, especially the tackles. Looking forward to actual game play to see if anything has changed.
