Against 8-4 or 9-3 Ok St?
Well that should be fun.
CBS has us in Texas bowl against Kansas state if that’s our bowl game our opponent is going to be k-state or Oklahoma state most likely
if okie state knocks off Texas for big 12 championship we get k-state, if Texas wins big 12 championship we probably play okie state
if we land in Birmingham bowl opponent is likely Georgia state or San Jose state - two teams that almost beat Harsin coached auburn football
-
Per 247 sports barring an upset this Saturday in iron bowl Auburn is likely headed to Texas bowl against Oklahoma state
-
Who our final non conference opponent will be for 2024 ? the majority of the mid majors liberty. JMU, Tulane. Etc already have have full schedules
I don’t follow fcs football so no idea which of those teams have a full schedule I assume we are just having a hard time finding a final non con opponent
I’m planning on being at the cal game next year

From what I’ve heard both bowls are down to us and Tennessee for both bowls, the vols opened the season in Nashville so the music city bowl maybe tempted to pass on them. Tennessee hasn’t been to the gator bowl since January of 2020, Auburn hasn’t been there since the 70s
-
Gator bowl is a strong possibility per 247 sports
its going to come down to us and Tennessee we are going to have to upset or have a good performance against bammer and hope Tennessee loses out their final two games
-
Depending on how we finish the season this year we have a pretty favorable schedule in 24
lets say for a minute we have a 2010/2013 type run next season then one of the Cinderella teams from this year Tulane, Air Force. Liberty, Jmu do as well what are the chances auburn would get snubbed for one of those teams

Full list of updated bowl projections for Auburn

Saturday down south has us
in the music city bowl vs Rutgers
that’s an interesting choice in terms of a team we’ve never played

If you’re in Auburn’s situation, you really just want someone that isn’t motivated or has an angle to work. Like Tulane is a better than Auburn team that will have Michael Pratt in his last game as arguably the most successful QB in their program’s modern history. They’re gonna kick some teeth out. WVU may fire their coach after the season. That’s a more favorable type of matchup to me
It all depends right now on Tulane and Air Force both are dead locked to get a NY6 bowl appearance
Air Force chances of a NY6 kind of dropped yesterday with their loss to Army
one of them is going to get a NY6 and the other gets Birmingham
not gonna lie I’d like to see an Auburn/Air Force matchup but I’d prefer somewhere other than Birmingham for it
-
247 sports is lobbying hard for
Auburn vs Clemson in the mayo bowl
also according to 247 sports if we win all three of our final games pop tarts bowl or Gasparilla bowl would be likely destination

Why? We’re too good for that? Hoping the reasoning originates out of a good and healthy place but I don’t see it.
Fortunately it’s up to the school about whether or not a bowl invite is declined and rarely ever do teams turn down bowl invites

Oklahoma? Imo a very bad matchup for us.
They already have two losses on the season their cha car of a ny6 bowl are most likely over barring some last minute chaos they are headed to a low tier bowl
I can’t imagine us being oaieed against them in bowl season unless as someone already said the media wants to hype them up for next season as an sec team
-
New possible destination
Jerry palm has us in Texas bowl against future sec rival Oklahoma, we play the Sooners next year
-
6 wins likely lands us in liberty bowl or Birmingham bowl
predictions I’ve seen
Liberty vs WVU
Mayo vs Clemson
Mayo vs Duke
Birmingham vs UTSA 😖
Gasparilla vs Georgia Tech
Gasparilla vs Liberty 😖
Birmingham vs Tulane 😖

There is a video floating on twitter where Coach Freeze says “He’s going to miss playing Georgia every year”
are we going to lose our annual rivalry game with Georgia after next season due to conference expansion?
This whole conference realignment should’ve died in 2010 you throw in rumors of Clemson FSU and UNC wanting out of the acc we are gonna be lucky to see normal rivals once in a blue moon

Once the new schedule rotation takes effect (should be in ‘25), we will play everyone home/away every 4 years. So we will play LSU again no later than ‘27, then again in ‘28.
But to be honest with you, I won’t miss LSU very much. Even after all these years, Florida is still a much bigger rival. It sucks the SEC didn’t put the Gators on our schedule in ‘24.
A lot of folks (me included) the game because of its weird moments
earthquake game
2006 penalty that wasn’t
2007 LSU’s miracle touchdown catch
but I understand it not bring considered a big rivalry as well by some
btw Hugh freeze kinda dropped a hint we may lose the Georgia game after next year

Dating all the way back to our collapse against State in 2021 the program lost its heart and will to win under Harsinits slowly getting back to it, it’s just going to take longer than most like

Auburn/LSU has usually been a night kick when played in BR, and 230 when in auburn
it makes me sad we won’t have this game on our schedule next season who knows when we will play lsu again

It also helped that Bielema and Chad Morris were the Arky coaches he thrived against.
Gus did lose to a Bielema coached arky team though

Win two at home against the state of Mississippi. Beat Vandy and NM. 7 wins. Bowl win is 8.
And there you have it.
5:6 wins seems likely at this point unless our offense improves
we are going to be underdogs against LSU, Alabama and maybe ole miss
I think we win two out of three against state arky and Vandy That puts us at 6-6 and likely in liberty bowl or Birmingham
independence bowl is lowest after that auburn hasn’t been to Shreveport since the late 90s
talk about boring there is nothing exciting about Shreveport but if an Auburn/UCF matchup is possible in bowl season then it’s likely getting snatched up by liberty or Birmingham
-
Liberty bowl is one of the top ten oldest bowl traditions it has some tradition and history
Auburn has only played there twice
1965 against Ole Miss
1984 against Arkansas

I'd love to see Gusball Version 4 vs Freezeball Version 1 in a bowl game. And if we make ANY bowl this season with this schedule and this many roster newbies, it will be no small accomplishment.
Media is probably licking their chops at the thought of Auburn vs Gus in a bowl
