Deion was considered one of the candidates for the job. It came down to experience as a coach. This is the same reason Caddy was not given the HC gig. If Deion had another 5-7 years at smaller P5 school even as a coordinator and a proven recruiting track record of an upward trajectory then this would be a different conversation.

I can understand Caddy being disappointed, if you’re him you would be too but I get the impression he also knows where he stands. From an experience perspective he’s not ready but I would have gladly taken him. He’s got a great attitude and ”seems” to be taking it all in stride. I hope Freeze uses him properly because Caddy is a big feather in Auburn’s cap.

I also hope everyone here has finally got the griping out of their system. The same concerns that accompanied Harsin’s hire don’t apply to Freeze. There shouldn’t be a constant drum beat questioning Freeze’s ability to do the job like there was with Harsin. It’s time for everyone to circle the wagons and come together as a fan base. What’s done is done and while keeping our eyes wide open let’s get behind the new staff and give them all the support we can to make them successful. I’m excited to be turning the page and I hope everyone else is too!

  2. I recently bumped my donation from Gold to Platinum because I support the site and the general posting patterns and attitudes here. I also like having access to The Nest which is a nice bonus for supporters. I’m more a lurker and over the years lurked on other forums including 24/7 and this place blows em all away. Glad I got in before the price increase! 😃

Freeze was on my list of candidates I was ok with from the beginning of this process, with reservations of course.  And I'll be listening intently to the additional background checking we did over the last few days as well as what Freeze himself says.  But I plan on supporting Auburn.  The players deserve it even if you don't think the coach does.

Cole Cubelics comments were very frank but positive. He claimed Freeze was vetted very closely by some entity outside the AU family and the results of that cleared the way. I know Cole is media now but he seemed at least a little dialed and came across like he knew what transpired. That’s good enough for me.

  4. There are some low post count moles in here pretending to be AU fans. I’m also now sure there are enemy moles who’ve coyly hidden their agenda over time to further stir the pot and give the fanbase a very bad name. To all you bloody infiltrators….a BIG F…U…

Sitting in one of the best recruiting locations in the country, with a rabid and loyal fan base….
Our choices should never have been 1) immature Twitter loving average coach Lane Kiffen or 2) put-auburn in a negative spotlight again average coach H Freeze.

Auburn is a powder keg with the right coach. Why are we settling? That is so frustrating.

When will Auburn learn that paying for an elite coach is worth a hell of a lot more than paying coaches to leave.

My disappointment is a dumpster fire Nebraska made a huge hire, Wisconsin got a coach who has been difficult to get yet here we're sitting appearing like we have our thumbs up our asses. Maybe they have a top line coach waiting for more games to be played? I hope that's the case because if it's not we've been dummied.

Boise State wasn’t an overachieving school they were the best in the conference. When Peterson left that program they were loaded and CBH did a great job of maintaining that.   This job wasn’t the right situation for him.

They overachieved when playing P5 schools, thats the point and what got everyones attention when Peterson was there. I know Harsin's resume looked good, I was completely behind him from day 1 but he's not the right fit. Sad as it is him and his assistants are not capable of even being respectable in this conference, forget about winning. Just getting to respectable is beyond their reach

Well supposedly the general was also in the group who interviewed Harsin so that’s not true at all.

General or not AG was the AD and he definitely had everyones attention. Marginalizing his influence doesn't make sense considering the factors involved.

Right but he can’t solely bring the guy in? You do get that right ? There was a panel of people who are still Auburn strong , who unanimously agreed to bring him in including the general who you all seem to love.

Maybe not "solely" but definitely the most influential in the decision. I admit that Harsin had a good looking resume from an overachieving school but in the end he's a flop and so was Greene.

  9. Would Harsin go out in a blaze trying to burn down as much as possible? He probably has some legitimate fuel but Id hope the buyout would soften his fall and calm his ego. Don’t know much about the guy though. Not sure if he’d do something like that but I guess it’s possible?

  10. Its depressing. I dont post much but read often. It gets a little crazy in here. I was all in on Harsin but he's not the guy. Bad bad bad fit. He sure looked the part at his initial PC but its been downhill ever since. This latest round of the coaching staff carousel was a disaster. His "guys" from Boise are not in the same league of coaching talent needed to even be respectable in the SEC. Forget about winning, they cant even be respectable.

Hire an awesome AD, let him hire the right coach without interference from the PTB and move on. Big money people need to get their check books out!

PS: Look what tennersee did. They got the right AD, the right coach and they are on the road to recovery and they've been down a LONG LONG time. Auburn can do that in spades!

  11. Im not informed enough to know what's going on in the program but I see people worried about coaches and high schools not knowing who's coming in the front door but I find that short cited, you know who's coming through the door? Its AUBURN! That's right, whoever is carrying out flag its the flag that matters and what gets them in the door.

Harsin was just on the Paul Finebaum show (I know, I hate Pawl too)

I’ll never understand how that pencil neck geek got into that position but like him or not, he is the official SEC talk show on the official SEC TV and radio network. He’s the guy that gets called as a guest commentator on all the other shows when it concerns the SEC. Crazy I know but it’s the way it is.
