You call it a narrative, The college football world calls it reality. AU is its own worst enemy. You know it and I know it. We disagree, but the performance of the last decade paints a very different story.
Exactly, and I agreed with you totally.
It may be a narrative, but it is reality. We definitely get in our own way and allow this to continue time and again. Our boosters are definitely different, otherwise we wouldn’t be having this conversation, again and again.

And while I am thinking about it. I am so tired of seeing Auburn players slipping in UA shoes….please sign with adidas or Nike.
The slipping is pure insanity. Do better, Auburn.

I officially have no more energy for Auburn football this season. The last few years have drained me. This season has drained me. The UGA and bammer games have drained me. I just need to take a nice long break.
Will check back in about an hour or so.
I’m on a break too. See you in ten over/under.

More heartbroken than angry. We had no business even being in position to win that game. I don't think a single player on our team would start for them. If there's one or two that's the max. We outplayed them most of the way. Critical mistakes at critical moments though. Just rips your guts out.
This explains my feelings so well. Out of likes, so take my response as your trophy. I truly feel bad for these players.

How long are we going to be “ in a state of rebuilding”?
We had the players to win this game. Bad plays AND bad coaching late kept that from happening. These coaches don’t deserve a pass.
Apparently we are rebuilding from now until eternity. Rinse. Repeat.

Here's where AU football fans are, and why the negative vibe at the folks saying things like "write off year" and "just be patient". I cannot possibly lower my expectations. I've had them set on "just show up and don't default for 60 minutes" for about 4 years. And, we are finding ways to implode in even more creative ways.
Exactly. You expressed it so well. I get a glimmer of hope and think ok, THIS is where we begin to turn things around and every single time we end up right back here in a more and more spectacular way. Creative, indeed. We sure excel at that aspect!!

I wish I could block out the fact Auburn football exists hereafter. I want to love and support it. It just keeps kicking me in the balls.
Same, same. Solidarity in this mess. I try and tell myself to have no expectations and yet, I get sacked every single time.
Guess I need to stop being so stubborn.- 1

It's our lot in life. It's not a lot. But it's our life.
Never a truer word spoken. I need a new lot because this lot is perpetual punishment. Love Auburn, but I’m gobsmacked and don’t even know why. I saw this coming.

Of course, our play would be to increase his pay and extend his contract to keep him...🙄
All facts. All facts. It’s our mission in life to pay more for nothing.

Anybody chance Arkansas is looking to hire Freeze away?
We can only dream and not hope for a Harsin sized nightmare behind him.

Not consistently. The sunshine pumpers are doing their job trying to create support and kill any dissent. But the best we can hope for is the stable is full for the next cycle (at which point we'll probably hire a worse coach).
It is what we do time and again.

I had to go outside and run because I was so gobsmacked. I haven’t run since like 2004.
I have no words left. I love Auburn, but this hurts.

Proud of this team for what they did this week. Thanks Caddy and staff for digging in and trying to trying to right this ship.

At least we showed up this week—mostly.

It’s simple. The team is feeding off the energy of a staff that cares about them and cares about Auburn. We aren’t a good football team. Everyone knows that. But now we are a bad football team with a Head Coach that wants them to win.
Out of likes, but could not agree more. Proud of the effort tonight from everyone.

Good Grief......why in the hell would anyone criticize Caddy for anything right now? He's putting his heart and soul out there tonight and willing this team to fight. And they are playong better than they have in 2 years.
AND WE JUST SCORED AGAIN!!!!! WAR DAMN EAGLE!!!!
GO CRAZY CADILLAC!!!!Yesss!! Just be thankful this isn’t one more week of Hars and we have a coach who actually cares and is invested.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

I was thinking/stupidly hoping I didn’t need to drink this game. I should have known better. This is maddening. Freaking maddening.

Hope he and his family are ok/will be ok. Wishing him well.
Thanks for the post.

I appreciated his grit, drive, and dedication tonight. It was nice to see him push through and take some runs and hits. I truly applaud his effort and willingness to get in there and fight. He made a valiant effort in many ways tonight. (Yes, I know he wasn’t perfect before anyone thinks I’ve lost the plot).
