Any idea if we'll lose 2017 commit ss Ricardo De La Torre to the Twins after they selected him in the 6th round? I imagine he'll take the signing bonus and go to the minors?

Loof and I actually discussed that in this thread. If you look at the numbers, Grant got a lot more opportunity out of his time at Auburn than Drake did at bama. bama builds their offense around power running, not speed.
We both know that the ultimate goal of the majority of football players is to make it to the NFL and under Saban, Bama does a lot of that.
Kenyon Drake: 3rd Round
Corey Grant: Undrafted FA

Alabama seems to have 1000 backs competing in the backfield every year . Hopefully he comes to his senses and make the logical choice .
They have 5-stars holding water bottles for the backups who are 5-stars.

Might be the #1 LB on AU's board
Has been a tOSU lean for a very long time but tOSU may have other LBs higher on their board & not take him
AU & UGA are in his next group & he has recently visited AU twice. All per Keith
What's the appeal with Ohio St.? Kinda pissed we lost Master Teague lll to them only after they recently offered. I imagine the weather is miserable during the winter and I wouldn't guess they have a lot of hotties up there like southern schools have. Like I said, I just don't comprehend the appeal. Don't get me wrong, I think Urban Meyer is a great coach but growing up, I don't ever remember Ohio State coming to the south and hand picking the players they want, sigh. I guess Urban's got it like that nowadays.

When was the last time bama properly utilized a player like Asa? Maybe we should arrange a conversation with Corey Grant.
Ummm, Corey Grant was grossly underutilized during his senior year so I'm not sure I'd call him.
Not to play devil's advocate, but Bama used a player like Asa extremely well in Kenyan Drake who went on to be taken in the 3rd Round of the NFL Draft by the Dolphins.

So.. Why do five Auburn coaches visit a committed 3* player right after his official?
Seems like that's a little unnecessary.
Ummm, remember David Marshall? Ya know, the measly 3-Star defensive lineman out of Georgia that was committed to us in the last cycle before flipping to UGA. All he went on to do in his true freshman campaign was record 26 total stops this season, including 2.5 QB sacks, 3.5 TFLs and five QB pressures.

I read this morning that TD has a chance to be bumped up to 5-Star status in updated rankings, but it could have just been click bait by an Auburn beat reporter...you guys would know better than me.

It seems that Stidham is trending towards Auburn and that would be a game changer for us with the type of talent we have returning.

Clicked on the thread to read the latest on Stidham. Instead I get a Herb Hand, Rhett Lashlee and even Joey Gatewood discussion lol.
50/50 or is A&M perceived to be a heavy favorite for Stidham?

I was listening to XM this morning on the way to work. Greg McElory said he studied film on Mitch Hyatt and said he really struggled against elite pass rushers. Said he doesn't think he'll be able to handle a healthy Carl Lawson.
I just have an overwhelming gut feeling that Carl is going to have a coming out party and everyone in the country will know who Carl Lawson is after the Clemson game.

If we can get pressure with 4 down linemen, I like our chances against anyone. We have to contain Watson once the play breaks down. He gashed bama in the NC game with his runs.
Would you designate a spy for him? Someone like a Rudy Ford or Montavious Atkinson that has some wheels?

Stat, you can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing that the tale of the tape is gonna come down to the two strengths - Clemson's quarterback and Auburn's defensive line - if AU can get quality pressure and force some inherit throws and a turnover or two by using 4 down linemen and dropping 7 back in coverage then I imagine that'll be our m.o.
Then again, Watson is a hell of a quarterback, so we might have to show him a lot of different looks from the defensive side of the ball to keep him on his toes.
If the defensive line plays like it did in the first half of the Louisville game when everyone was healthy, I feel very good about our chances.

Just for the record, Briles has come out and said recently that he expects he'll get another head coaching gig after this season; obviously not on the level of Baylor, but he still expects to be a head coach none the less, so you might want to temper any pipedream thoughts about Briles joining Gus on the plains.

For the past decade all we ever read is how great the offense did and this guy had an 80 yard play. i find it refreshing that our defense is actually doing well. Gus always has an offense thats good enough to win, it always the defense that lets us down.
Did you watch last season? Our offense stunk as bad as our d.

KP is going to be good. And to be fair the offense was vanilla. Boring vanilla.
Please tell me KP lost the neck brace now that he's playing tailback. I think it was okay from his hback position last season, but definitely not at tailback - makes you look stiff.
He reminds me of James Bostic and Bostic is one of my favorite all-time Auburn players because he was like an ox with the rock.

Gatewood is no longer a 5* on the composite rankings. Rivals dropped him to the 99th best player in the country.
What did rivals rank him previously?

He and Kaleb Kim are two nice options at center.

Madison Academy Pipeline
Dude, this is unheard of if you think about it - the Tahd used to have that part of the state sown up and now Auburn's got it on lock. Madison Academy is a damn good pipeline to have considering they win or make a run at a state title and produce one of the nation's top prospects each and every year.
Major props to Tim Horton. Bravo, coach!

Imagine if Stidham exhaust his three years of eligibility at Auburn, during his rs senior year our qb room/depth could be the most talented in the history of our program if not all of college football -
Jarrett Stidham
Malik Willis
Justin Fields
Joey Gatewood
Bo Nix
Likely a pipe dream, but still a beautiful thought nonetheless.
