smittysmat13 0
.. that our defense was making very, very crisp, hard, fundamental tackles for this game. Especially in the open field. Perhaps the coaching is beginning to pay off as we see improvements.......this is a special team. SIAP

SIAP While we have missed a few tackles this year, to me, our biggest problem has been LBs and DBs being out of position and/or taking bad angles. There was definitely improvement in that department Saturday. If we can get our down field pass coverage to step up a little before UGA and Bama, the D could be pretty solid as we finish up the season. wiljam08 0
what I have noticed is that we are attacking the ball on defense and I started noticing it against Arky. What I mean by this is when we give up the underneath throws we break on the receiver and blow him up. Guys start getting T-Rex arms later in the game when you do that. But before Arky I was seeing a lot of defenders sitting back and waiting on the ball to come to them after the catch, letting the offensive player initiate contact. Dont get me wrong, I like playing the softer coverages, but I like playign them like we have been the past two weeks.
87aubie 0
I noticed fewer guys running free in the secondary against LSU. That said, our INT came on a play where a clearly open receiver mishandled a catchable ball, tipping it into the air for us to take. That should have been a first down completion. 87aubie 0
Yes, but the topic is performance of the D, not result of the play. I know it was a pick and dang happy it was.

Verry valid point...I just know that an improving gritty D, and this ridiculous offense make this team an absolute joy to watch. Win or lose..this is a special team.....I'd lean on'em anytime! Not only was the overall performance better, we continued our trend of tightening the screws in the second half.

Out of position and bad angles taken for the tackle. I did notice a big improvement Saturday.
