Auburn's Mt. Rushmore....

If its four I'd say Bo, Pat Sullivan, Cam and Pat Dye

You gotta squeeze Shug Jordan in there somewhere!!!!! Putting Cam on there at this point would be premature.  He has some 'unfinished' business on the field, and a Heisman trophy to win!

In all of these posts about best players, Mt. Rushmore, etc. One important and special player has not been talked about. I am talking about the man that Shug Jordan labeled the most complete footbal player he had ever seen, Tucker Fredrickson. Not only was he a great running back, but most people said he was the best blocking back in the country. Oh! He also played both ways and was the interception leader in the conference (or possibly the nation) as the saftey. He also finished second in Heisman voting one year. I'm not saying he was the best player in AU history, but he should definitely be mentioned in the conversation.

Why do we have to limit our Mt. Rushmore to 4 people? I say we expand it to 6.

I think we would have to have a few extra heads on our Mt. Rushmore....

Way too many greats to limit to four.  And lots of these "greats" are players many of you have never heard of or have forgotten.  Forrest Blue and Tom Banks, centers...the late Jimmy Sidle should have already been mentioned by some.  We can't limit the players to who had the most press but who meant the most to the team when they played.  But Shug, Pat, and Bo certainly belong on the face of the mountain!  JMO  :wareagle:

Mt RUSHmore for running backs

Mt BLOCKmore for offensive linemen

Mt COACHmore for coaches

Mt SACKmore for defensive linemen

Jimmy Sidle, Takeo Spikes, Terry Beasley (he won Pat his Heisman), Kevin Green, Aundray Bruce. These are just a few names that haven't been mentioned that should be on Auburn's Mt. Rushmore. There is absolutely no way to just put 4, or 6, or even 8 players on it. If you are going to do this there is no use having one. You would be doing a huge disservice to so many GREAT players who have been a part of our rich history. Truth is, you could put at least 4 at every position including kicker and punter.

Lots to think about here.

1.  Heisman -  His name is on a trophy so that's cool

2.  Shug - Longevity over time and established the congenial nature of the Auburn teams and fans that set us apart

3.  Dye - Getting Alabama to play in Auburn.  That's Enough right there.

4.  Pat Sullivan.  Heisman winner who's records Cam Newton is breaking 40 years later.  THAT says something.

5.  Bo - Got to go with anyone whose one name instantly identifies him.  No brainer.  Maybe greatest athelete ever.

6.  Rocker -  Outland and Lombardi in one season is enough to make him one of the all time greats.  Look up the word "beast"  in the Dictionary and you see a photo of him slamming a rb into next year.

7.  Cam - ONLY if he plays out the string and wins the Heisman this year.  Lack of time in school would keep him out of the greats otherwise.  I don't think "One and dones" anywhere  should be considered for something like Rushmore UNLESS they are recognized with a national award such as the Heisman.

8.  Fairly -  Outside Chance he could do a Rocker and win the Outland and Lombardi, but probably he will miss out on something like Rushmore because he has only had the one great year thus far and barring a lock out should take the money and run to the NFL.

Maybe they could build the Auburn Rushmore out at that strip mine out by Chewalca.  LOL.  Or maybe at Cheeha.  Or just redo Vulcan!

WDE.

My vote is to have hundreds and thousands of mini-faces of our beloved Auburn men and all of those mini-faces make up one GIANT WADE CHRISTOPHER Face.  Like a giant Auburn rock carved mosaic.

Don't forget Mike Kolen, one of the hardest hitting LBs ever.

THANK YOU!!!!!!

Thank you for remembering Captain Crunch. No less an authority than Don Shula said that Mike Kolen was the hardest hitting linebacker he had ever seen. When I start a list of all time great linebackers at Auburn, he is always #1.

For Mt. Rushmore, it begins with the man, a true gentleman, Coach Ralph "Shug" Jordan. As for the other three, I don't really care who they are. It begins with Coach Jordan.

One of my favorites of all time not sure he would be on the Mt. Rushmore but....

Kevin Green a former walk on...  Was a member of the ROTC and was a reservist....

Other unnamed....

Lionel James

Joe Cribbs

Tommie Agee

William Andrews

The running back Mt. Rushmore would need a whole lot more faces than 4....
