Ok, I have to admit

I am not a sunshine & roses kind of guy and tend lean towards the realistic/pessimistic side of things when discussing Auburn football.  Guess I've just been burned too many times by the national media and the heartbreak of games that should have been won.

I have to credit Coach Chizik and his staff along with the football players for changing my mindset.  While the defense still scares me (sorry, but our secondary just isn't very good), I'm no longer just hopeful of an Auburn win every Saturday...I'm actually confident and believe that we can win everytime our guys set foot on the field.  It won't always be pretty (this year is really testing the effectiveness of my Lisinopril) but in the words of Al Davis, "Just win, baby."

I'm not looking for kudos or even a bunch of "me too" posts, I just wanted to tip my hat to our coaches and players and say thank you for changing the mindset of this Auburn alum.

I, for one, thought they played pretty well against LSU. I think if the D can keep making those crucial plays to help the O, we'll be in good shape.

That was a perfect game for our defense because LSU's offense...well, it horrible.

Randall, tolliver, shephard, and peterson are very good wrs as a group probably the most athletically gifted group we play all year.  They do not produce like arky's but that is because their qbs are up and down and fairley is usually laying on top of them.

LSU's passing game is anemic at best.  It may have been a confidence builder, but we still have pretty serious issues with our secondary.  It helped that LSU dropped a few passes too.  They also had some guys wide open in that game that didn't get the ball thrown their way.  It is definitely the weakest spot on the team, maybe other than punting, right now.

I look at it a little differently.  While acknowledging that LSU's offense is struggling, many people had the pre-game attitude that AU's D would make even LSU look good on offense.  We didn't, which says to me that we played a pretty good game.  In case anyone was really paying attention, Jefferson threw for 242 against us last year.  So yeah, I'd say the D stepped it up last week.  This week, they will get another chance to prove that they have made some big strides since Clemson.
