BCS Report Card - Why Auburn is #1

One thing I've noticed is that the 3 Non Automatic Schools (Boise St., TCU, and Utah) are the ONLY 3 schools in the top 10 of the BCS to be in the top 10 in BOTH Offense and Defense. Doesn't that really speak to how bad their competition has been? I mean not a single school from a major conference have achieved that so far this year. Does that mean that those 3 are just so much more dominate than the other 7? I think not! Wake up folks! In order to be the best you have to play the best! Work yourselves into a major conference and then cry foul if you go undefeated without the chance to play for the title.

Exactly, thewhiz.  Fortunately, either TCU or Utah will be out of the top 10 in a few weeks.

and in my opinion, the winner of that game should be ahead of Boise..... at around number 5  :dunno:

Some observations:

The stats in that graphic really speak to SOS and removes all doubt that our accomplishments have landed us squarely at #1.

The former Heisman trophy winner's team's offense is not even in the top 25 ?  How can that be?

One interesting thing is, I keep hearing some people talk about Oregon's remaining schedule and strength.  However, as a snap shot right now, Opp to date and remaining are - Auburn - 51-32  Oregon 36-41.  There is no comparison to the opponent winning percentage, not to mention wins over 5 BCS top 25 vs 2.  (Assuming both win out)

Also, you look at Oregon, Boise & TCU - Neither of their Opponent W/L records currently or projected will have winning percentages.  That makes it a lot easier to have top ranked offenses and defenses.

Why can't people who's job it is to analyze sports (don't have a real job) not do this simple comparison and realize these facts.  Maybe they have, but it doesn't fit their agenda.

This has to be the answer. No intelligent person can look at that and NOT see the dominance. Maybe they can argue that our wins have been close, but that really comes across as something to hang their agenda on if you ask me.

I'm for noting this but not making too big a deal of it yet.

First, we have a long way to go.  If we DWWD, it will sort itself out for us.  If we lose, none of it will matter.

Second, doesn't require putting anybody down.  Oregon and Boise are very good teams.  We've just done more so far.
