Let's be honest, we backed off after he chose Bama over us, not before.  I am shocked to see that he is an ESPN 150 though, he really wasn't even starting for Auburn High and wasn't going to this year either.

He was starting, just not producing...not in the Prattville game at least.

I guess because he committed to UAT, he gets on the ESPN 150.  :dunno:

I beleive he did start at Auburn High and this was his third high school. He did have potential was a player who could have evolved with a little stability. Speaking of stability, Raymond Cotton is the third string QB at South Alabama, the other undefeated Alabama university.

I was at the Prattville game, and if he started that was about the only time he was on the field...

Literally, he was on the field the whole game only a hand full of plays... no factor at all...

He is ranked as highly as he is b/c he has the body/frame of an SEC-calibre DL RIGHT NOW! Plus, he is about as RAW as a player can get! If he ever gets his mind right and gets w/ the right coaching staff, the sky will be the limit for this young man! Good luck to him and God Bless him!

Wasn't he rated as a 4 star? And he never started as a 1st line player in high school?

He sounds like Shane from Center Point...except Shane wasn't a 4 star in high school.  ;D

VERY good sources are saying that last week Fanning walked off the field during his HS's practice, and his coach suspended him for last week's game. The coach then told Fanning to come back for practice the next Monday, and the coach was willing to give him a fresh start. Fanning did NOT show for practice. Later in the week (probably yesterday), Fanning informed the coach that he was quitting the team, and then the coach told the media outlets.

Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

This is really revealing!!  There is another high profile recruit that DJ knows about (4*OL) that has recently dropped out of school and is preparing to enroll in a "school where he can get his grades up."  Academics apparently are not considered a topic of discussion when it comes to recruiting qualifications, but I don't know why!!  We have a kid, Jeremy Richardson, that everybody from our Ass't Head Coach on down, want to see wearing the O&B, and God-willing, it will happen.  But  he's gotta study and go to class!!  Plus, as we can now tell from our basketball program, this University and it's compliance staff, ain't gonna bend the rules.  So, when our guys get on the field, we can cheer for them knowing they are successful both on and off the field. If Fanning has issues, and UAT is willing to stick with him, so be it.  But, as they say, there, but for the grace of God, ......

Let Bama have him. We don't need a player like that.

This guy could have been an amazing football player. I told y'all time and time again that he would never pan out. Y'all thought I was joking when I said we don't want him. he's uncoachable, won't work and just is an overrall quitter. Sad to see. He could have been an all american type player but IMO will never step foot on a D1 field.
