Based on this week's Harris and Coaches Polls...

312234's BCS Projections (Coaches/Harris/Computers)

1. Auburn (2/2/1)

2. Oregon (1/1/5)

3. TCU (4/4/2)

4. Boise State (3/3/6)

5. Alabama

Last week, our BCS rating was 0.9371

Predicting AU unanimous #1 in the computer rankings would give AU a new BCS rating of 0.9599

Oregon would be tied at BCS #1 with AU if they have a computer average of 0.8365* (last week their computer average was 0.740).  If Oregon's computer ranking is greater than 0.8365, Oregon gets BCS #1.  If Oregon's computer ranking is below 0.8365, AU gets BCS #1.  *Oregon can't have an average of 0.8365 because the computer rankings only go to two decimal places.

The above statement in orange is based off of the assumption that AU is unanimous #1 in the computer rankings (which is 99% likely).

To put this in perspective, last weeks computer rankings were:

1 AU                 0.980

2 Missouri          0.960 <lost

3 Michigan State 0.930 <lost

4 TCU               0.870

5 Oklahoma        0.820

6 Boise State     0.780

7

8 Oregon           0.740

It'll definitely be close.  FYI, Missouri is ranked #3 in Jeff Sagarin's computer rankings even though they got drilled 17-31 by Nebraska. But Jeff Sagarin has Oregon at #2.

Post your Week 3 BCS Projections here.

I think you will see that change when we beat bammer. Like it or not most coaches out there still think bammer is a better team than AU, so they aren't going to give us a #1 vote until we beat them. Coach Dye has even stated that he will not give AU a #1 vote until they beat Alabama.

Happy with the way the season has gone but Oregon is pretty damn good this year too.

there are still a few chances for Oregon to lose. mainly Arizona.

Oregon gives up 32 to a bad USC offense and they, "Make plays when they have to." Ole Miss scores 31 on us and, "Auburn's defense is horrible." Hippies play nobody just like Boise does and they are a great football team, Auburn plays a tough SEC schedule and we are a mid tier SEC team. Ridiculous.

Not from what I saw last night.

This complete lack of disrespect for us is ridiculous....I can NOT believe we are getting the minuscule #1 votes that we are getting in the human polls.

Oregon plays their 2nd team with a winning record, struggles ALL game and then blows it open in the 4th

Auburn has a tight game until the beginning of the 2nd quarter and dominates the rest of the game.

The ESPN smear campaign on us is in full effect. They will have their darling Boise State in the MNC at all costs. This is complete and total Bullsh*t......(pardon my French)

I hope we completely destroy UGA and Bama, just to shut everyone up.

What I worry about is Boise being left out and AU winning the NC against Oregon.  The way the media is right now, Boise would be rewarded a split title.

The reason AU didn't get the split title in '04 was because we didn't have the media on our side.

If we keep winning, it doesn't matter what anybody- including ESPN- thinks. It's pretty simple really. We control our own destiny. Win and we play in the BCS championship. WDE.

I don't see the whining about not getting enough respect.  Obviously, we've accomplished more so far this year than anyone, but we've also come very close to ending the day with a loss on three or four occasions.  Nobody's even breathed hard on Oregon yet.

Personally, I don't think we're quite as good as Oregon is, but I sure want the chance to find out.  In any case, Oregon started out ahead of Auburn, and they've been super-impressive, so they're still ahead of Auburn.  You can't blame them for their schedule.  When you play in the Pac 10 and plan a road trip to Tennessee, you've got a good-looking schedule.  Not their fault other teams haven't performed.

But the main thing is, it's all in our hands.  If we can beat Georgia and Alabama, we play for the SEC.  And if we win that, we play for it all.  Respect has nothing to do with it.  So I'm fine.

ESPN can go on and on about BSU all they want. It won't get them into the big game. It will get them into a BCS game but not the big one. Contrary to popular belief, that network doesn't have that much power. If both AU and Oregon win out, this will be the matchup in Glendale. There will be no split title. As you can see with today's coaches poll, the voting coaches believe AU is a better team than BSU. What the talking heads say doesn't mean much. Its their job to do just that, talk. At the end of the day, they will have no choice but to talk about the #1 and #2 team in the BCS. Everything else will be a mute point.

We're already ahead of Boise in the Coaches and the Harris...we've closed to within 7 points in the AP.  If we beat Bama, we will be way ahead of Boise in all 3 polls.  I don't see how there could be a split championship in the scenario that us and Oregon run the table and face each other.  The ONLY way I could see there being a chance of a split title is if a 1 loss SEC team jumps over Boise and plays and undefeated Oregon for the title.  If the 1 loss SEC team won the MNC game and Boise put on a big show in the Rose Bowl vs. a top team, then I could see their being a fuss that an undefeated Boise should get a share with the 1 loss SEC team.

I'm not trying to come across [that] negatively.  I'm an EE student so numbers and scenarios are what I like to look at.

It comes down to the fact that if AU wins out through the SEC CG, AU will play for the NC.

'preciate your number crunching. I actually came looking for your ranking breakdown today. WDE.

Auburn will continue to rank BCS 1 after tonight. Edwards is projecting Oregon to jump us as the season continues and their SOS improves. I say who cares The players have all said the only time it matters to be ranked #1 is at the end of Bowl season and I absolutely agree with them.

We dropped because the other two thirds of the formula (Harris and USA) has, and had us behind Oregon. We were only ahead of them in the computer rankings. Last week the computers had Oregon lagging way behind (8th, I think). This week they shot up in the computer rankings (2nd), so they out pointed us because of that.

We are where we need to be, in the top two so I'm not worried. Like others have said, it's in our hands, we win out we play for the crystal, we lose, we are done.

The other reason we dropped is because Oregon actually gain points in the BCS and Harris because they had more 1st place votes.

I hope this only goes to motivate this team more.  With all the disrespect Auburn is getting I don't see how they can get a big head.
