herktiger 0
I suspect this may have been discussed during the game thread or by the TV crew and I know we're all moving forward to UTC this week. BUT since I was at the game and I didn't see any of those threads during the game or the broadcast AND it still chaps me, I thought I'd throw this out... How can ANY self respecting team in the south have an artificial turf field?? I understand (but still don't like) artificial turf based on the challenges of maintaining good grass in the northern tier states during harsh freezing fall weather. But Oxford, MS?!? I couldn't believe it. I personally felt that Demond Washington might have had an unequaled performance with 3 kickoff returns for TDs instead of just one if he didn't slip on the other 2 returns. I'd be interested in how it looked on TV. From my angle in the north end zone, it appeared he had huge holes and was past everybody but the kicker when he was making the key cut and slipped. Artifical turf also contributes to more injuries BTW. Bottom line: Artificial turf in our climate is pathetic! War Eagle!
AUTi9er96 9
The first one he slipped on, it was possible that it could have gone the distance. The second I would have been surprised on. However, that being said, the slip could have been on grass also. In fact most of the injuries that occur on the artificial stuff is because you typically get a better grip than the real stuff and therefore it does not give when an impact or torque occurs. SKIPPER 0
I was at the game and on Demond's second slip, I told the Ole Miss fans around me that they should go to Mississippi St. and learn some turf management. They weren't happy.
JwgreDeux 1,219
On TV, it appeared that on the first slip, he only needed to beat the kicker and would have been gone. On the second, it looked like a couple of guys would have a shot at him, but he would have gotten 10 or so more yards first.

You can't even use climate as an excuse... growing up in Green Bay, hell would be raised if they ever put artificial turf in Lambeau... Lombardi would roll over in his grave.
