I know - I went back and checked your content after the mention above & you alluded to as much. Btw, I wasn't telling you to get busy - appreciate your work as much as anyone's on here. Thanks.

Yep.  A few of us have been saying for a while now that this was likely.  It's grade issues.  Hmmmm... Wonder why Lyons' name has resurfaced over the past few days???

I couldn't remember the name of the recruit that would fill this void and went looking for it! Thanks JS - some pieces are stating to fall into place. I'm a little slow tho too, so it takes a little longer for me to work these things out.

It could help us with either him or Therezie, although he's being looked at more as a corner.

I find this pretty odd. Guy commits the day after signing day and I think he was also the first commit chizik brought in after he was hired last year. So I find it hard to believe he moved on or had a change of heart about Auburn. We'll never know what happened here but I hope he wasn't just replaced by another player out there. If your gonna offer a guy than stick by that offer. Not saying this is what happened....just saying I hope it didn't happen.

Rest assured, it didn't happen.  It's grade issues.

Word is grade issues. We know that admissions dept is tough on guys with grade issues. If this is the case and may not be admitted, its probably better to part ways now and give him the chance to find another option that suits him rather than wait and sweat it out to the end. The staff has made it a point not to have academic casualties pop up. Parting ways now may be best for both sides. The staff has time to pursue other "safer" options.

I have stated this on many occasions, guys:  grades (GPA, ACT/SAT) are now just as important as a young man's athletic ability.  And, more recently, and this is NOT directed at the Lanier case, quality of character is becoming an almost equal criteria.  There are too many athletically gifted kids out there, the competition for available slots is fierce, and only those who are willing to work on all phases of life will succeed.

That sucks I remember when he was our first commit in the class and talked about how he was going to recruit for us and make us the #1 class. Oh well. I feel bad for him. With us being so good right now you know hes devastated.

Saw this coming a few weeks ago! SEE HERE!  ;) Although, at the time I didn't want to say for sure that it was grades! Now it's pretty much common knowledge! His spot was being held with the stipulation that he would be a Dec. graduate and thus be able to join the team in Jan. That appears to no longer be the case, and his spot will now go to a HS player. Fortunately, our staff has continued to recruit SEVERAL BIG-TIME players at the CB/S positions! One of them will join what should already be one of if not THE top DB class in the country in this year's class!

yea it hurts, but he can can still sign with the 2012 class. it could go either way, but i hope he just sticks it out and focuses on class and continues to want to be a Auburn Tiger. everything will work out, we will get a HS kid. which i think is a good thing. and lanier can come in as a juco guy and push for possibly quality starting time.who knows!!! WDE
