AUApostle 7,070
Do you think recruiting at Auburn is harder or easier than Luper, Trooper, Thigpen, and gang thought when they first signed up?
ellitor 31,910
It's not the easiest place to recruit in the SEC but it is one of the easier places to recruit in the country overall. The coaches you mention are great recruiters and make it look easy.
muxi87 148
It's got to be easier now than they thought. The success of the football team and the buzz in the media only helps.
bird36 5
There are some things which work in Auburn's favor in recruiting: Great facilities, great fans, great campus atmosphere, successful team, Auburn puts players in the NFL, A Auburn football player is known and highly regarded on campus, good academics etc......... What makes it tough is Auburn must fight hard for in state recruits. As much as I hate to say it, Auburn fans are a minority in the state so it stands to reason that many state recruits start the recruiting process as a fan of another school. Not only does Auburn have to fight pressure from people outside the state to go to the state school, Auburn has to fight pressure from fans wanting recruits to go to the other state school. walker77 0
^^^ Also positives...close proximity to the rich recruiting fields in GA & FLA...plus we have some pretty good players per capita in AL
WarAmericanEagle 0
I think its now easier than they ever thought it would be because the success of the team this year and last. I also agree about being right near FL and GA helps.
92AUGRAD 4
I think it is very difficult 1) We are not the state school as mentioned previously 2) We do not have the long standing tradition of many other big time programs (although this is improving) 3) Auburn is a small college town. I've been to Knoxville, Gainesville and other larger city schools. In many cases, kids want the bigger city feel which AU just can't offer. I believe there are more kids that want the bigtime city experience than those that want the small college town. It's harder to sway a big city kid to a small school than vice-versa. Auburncheese 0
I agree that kids want the big city feel but Auburn has that. Yes its not huge but you have Auburn/Opelika then most students drive to Atlanta only an hour and a half away for the weekend if they want to have the big city feel. So I think it has both. Sorry just felt a little different about that. WDE
LP 23 0
i think its a little easier because they seem to have a comradary and the recruits seem to see that.
auclong 0
Do you think recruiting at Auburn is harder or easier than Luper, Trooper, Thigpen, and gang thought when they first signed up? It`s like being a commissioned salesperson. You just have to work that much harder than the other guys do.
styxfan34 0
What I love about Chizik, is that he truely believes that AU is so special that it practically sells itself. When you have that kind of attitude, it is infectious. Several recruits have already been infected.

aubook56 0
When you recruit you recruit the potential players mom, dad, grandparents etc. Small towns don't have as much trouble as the large ones. Georgia Tech is tough academically so maybe that is the reason.

Because GaTech is not considered a football power and they're considered an academic /technical college. Plus have you been to GaTech...not the prettiest area of town. ellitor 31,910
The main reason it is tough at Ga Tech is because Uga is their daddy when it comes to recruiting in the state of Georgia. In fact Ga Tech is usually 3rd behind Auburn.

shceagle 0
Speaking of weekends......There is nothing better than a long and relaxing weekend like there is on Lake Martin. Imagine all those recruits going to the coaches lake house on Lake Martin for a big ole BBQ.......... Oh wait, Bruce Pearl beat everyone to it!
