A note to the Newton Family

I think I can speak for the entire Auburn Family in stating how disgusted we are that your son is being treated in such a fashion by the media in this country.  While I do not know Cameron, I truly believe your son to be an upstanding person.  Watching the segment on Auburn: Everyday, seeing what he is doing to enrich the lives of those kids, was truly amazing to see.  In this day and age, so many athletes are all about themselves, and what will put them in the spotlight and increase their stock.  Cameron seems to truly care about his TEAM first, always giving praise to the linemen, the receivers and the running backs that make his job a little easier.  I cannot imagine how you feel, seeing your son’s image and reputation being dragged through the mud.  Please know that the entire Auburn Family is in support of your son, and we will show that support every opportunity we get.  Tiger Walk for the UGA game will be a sight to behold.  The atmosphere in Jordan-Hare Stadium will be as electrifying as it has ever been, and I truly hope that the entire fanbase will join in singing “Lean on Me”, as that song represents what Auburn stands for.  We are a family, and family’s stick together and take up for each other.  One of our family members is being bullied right now, and we’re not going to stand for it.  God bless you and your family, in this trying time.  War Eagle!!!

That's a good sentiment AUGrad.  The other piece that is so disappointing to me now, is how this is robbing a lot of people of the joy of this season.  Cam has been electrifying to watch, but for me, it's been equally pleasing to see a young man just having fun - playing football for the sheer joy of it and love of the game.  And I truly believe his joy has been infectious for this team.  They may not be the most talented team, but they are playing with heart and genuinely seem to be having fun.  I hate that all this noise is getting in the way of that, at least for some of the fans if not for the team itself.

We need to pull together, and refuse to let the media and the haters have any more of our joy. They get too much pleasure from it.

Auburn owes UGA a stomp down. Let's go do it.

I agree.  This season will now have a dark cloud hanging over it for quite some time.  I, for one, am not letting it ruin my joy at seeing Auburn on the verge of something special, though.  I was there in '93 when we went undefeated but couldn't participate in the bowls/championships due to probation.  I was heart-broken in '04 when our team was snubbed, even though we were hands down more deserving to play in the NC game than OK.  This year is going to be special, and I feel sorry for our next two opponents, because I think we are going to prove it on the field.

I REFUSE to let this ruin the excitement and joy of this season.

When I think of the gauntlets this team has already run - @ MISS St, Clemson & USCe, then UK, Arky and LSU - WOW, what a season this has been so far.

One last REGULAR SEASON gauntlet to overcome - AMEN corner - let's beat UGA and BAMA to complete the cycle!

All of that is to say that I agree with the sentiment - Newton Family - you are a part of the Auburn family and as such, we support and love you and stand by you!
