Why have we (the Auburn Nation) not stepped up and protected Cecil Newton. All I hear from the family is that (if) or maybe if, I asked earlier why would he take a chance on asking for money at a cost of Cam.s future? MSU has sepped in it, Mullens wanted Cam I think Cecil blamed Mullen for Cam's problems at Florida. The difference between Auburn and Florida is the coaches watch and protect the kids.

Looks like it comes down to Cecil's word versus Rogers word.

Auburn University has put everything behind the Newton family that they can.

Thats why you will see them trying to smear Cecil from now on since that will be their best hope.

F'bomb has harped on Cecil since this atarted last week. What it comes down to in his case Cecil is a black pimp pastor. It makes me sick that people hae racked him over nails to see if he will bleed. I don't blame for not talking, why should he? MSU should be in the same shape as SMU year ago. Mullens thought he had it rapped up and now will do anything to cover his butt..

Ever stop to think that maybe MS discovered Kenny was trying to shake them down and informed/vetted Cecil to make sure he wasn't involved, and that's why they continued to recruit Cam?... Remember no one seems to have an answer as to why MS would continue to recruit Cam if they knew all of this was going on... If you are in the MS athletic dept and someone calls claiming to represent the Newtons and they are wanting 180k, don't you think the first thing they would do is call Cecil Newton and determine his involvement?....Is it possible someone within the athletic dept at MS, with out all the pertinent facts in this saga, decided they were going to get even with Cecil and right a wrong by leaking all of this supposedly damning info?

That is a pretty good theory.  Pretty logical to me.  Mullen was pretty close to Cam before and it stands to reason that he would try to keep him out of it.

How do you think Schad's sources fit in with it?

You are right AUfan.  If true, Rogers story means MSt. knew someone sought $ for Cam, yet they continued to recruit him, delayed reporting, did not divulge everything up front, etc.  It will be interesting to see if the "recruiters"/"coaches" decide to confirm Rogers story and jeopardize MSt.'s position, or lay this all on Rogers in the hopes he's the only one going down.

I doubt they corroborate Rogers story.  My guess is that MSU recruiters want to be as far away from Rogers as possible.  I think the whole purpose of this investigation was to get Rogers.  MSU does NOT want to side with him right now.

If anything they'll side with Bonds.  Bonds has already pointed the finger at Rogers.  He has NEVER pointed the finger directly at Cecil.

That's kind of what I've been thinking today. Cecil may have tried to solicit money in Nov. MSU said no. Cecil then pushes Cam to Auburn, not for money (just can't see JJ or CGC involved like that), but inspite of MSU. MSU then informs the NCAA in Jan. of Cam's recruitment because they believe we may have "bought him". They realize they may be wrong about us, but may incriminate themselves thus the not turning over what ever the NCAA wanted until July.

All I know is I don't believe what anyone is saying... period.... Why would Rogers contact Bell?? Did he know he was the go to guy for money for players?.... I see a lot of ass covering going on here.

It may be possible that behind the scenes all of the parties that are aligned with AU have been advised by legal teams/authorities to say little or nothing while they watch the guilty parties hang themselves as this fiasco continues to unravel.  There's always been a lot that doesn't make sense.  The longer this thing goes on without any action taken against Cam, the more likely he is to be vindicated.  Although I've felt very uneasy at times, I'm starting to feel that the Newtons and AU may come out of this looking squeaky clean.  I really think that this thing has climaxed as of today and that they're starting to shoot blanks.

With all do respect, he needs to follow the advice of his attorney(s), not people on Internet Discussion boards.
