Bynes vs Hightower

Coming into this year, Alabama was given all of their "All-Americans" (and I did put that in quotations for a reason), and one of those was Hightower which I thought was ridiculous. He seems to get all the publicity for being good, and Bynes's critics always say he is too slow. But lately I've been watching Hightower and he is in no way speedy. With the leadership and instincts that Bynes brings to the table, I'll take him over the "All-American" any day. He quickly became my favorite player on the defense this year. Nobody on the team, and I mean nobody, tries harder and gets as much as they can out of their talent level as Bynes does. He deserves respect and he gets it from me.

I haven't seen Hightower play much this year but I did think there would be a drop off of play in the bammer LB because of a once in a decade type player in Rolando McClain. But our LB's have been a week point to me even more than the secondary. Again this is just my opinion. I love Bynes, Freeman, Bates, Evans, Stevens, and crew but the each have glaring weakness that the opposing teams take advantage of constantly. Like the inabilty to cover, wrap-up, blitz, or take good angles puts our DB's at a disadvantage on many plays that go for many yds against us. We play majority cover 3 and the LB's have to be able to do all those things effectively. I believe when the LB play changes we will have a defense that is one of the best in the nation.
