He opened his show with by interviewing Doug Jones, a former US attorney (and Bama fan).

He's basically crapping all over Shane's theories! :)

Former US Attorney Doug Jones just stated on Finebaum that the McGregor wiretaps are from March 2010.  This is obviously well after the relevant timeframe of when we allegedly would have paid for Cam Newton.  Looks like the McGregor stuff is nothing.

Goota love finebaum!  Just gave the bammers something to hang their hat on.  Pat Dye and Milton McGregor on the Colonial Board.  Must be the tie to the FBI!!!

True, but the callers keep asking questions trying to get him to say something....   But he clearly said Miltie is not involved and he is the prosecuter...

He is not the prosecutor, he is now a defense attorney defending a co-defendant of Mcgregor.

That said, he HAS TORPEDOED the MM involvement rumor (if there was anyone else other  than hopeful bammers that still thought it might be true).

This man has heard, or at least has access, to ALL of the wiretap recordings in  the mcgregor case.

He is also a Bama fan.

For those much smarter than me when it comes to legal matters.......why, if Rev Newton, is suspected of receiving money/goods in exchange for his son's services (as the callers are suggesting) is the FBI not investigating him directly? I mean, why go all around the world when all you have to do is go straight to the person in question. Probably a stupid question, but had to ask.

It's not against the law for a University to pay you money... It's just against NCAA rules.  I could be wrong though.  Players used to get a small amout of cash up to the 50s, if I'm correct.

Investigations usually start with ancillary players and work themselves towards the target. That way they know what to ask the suspect. I do not think that is what's going on here. Just FYI.

I think it's because Cecil doesn't really know anything worth investigating from the FBI's point of view.  The way that I understand all of this is that Cecil's point of contact was Kenny Rogers.  It doesn't seem as though Cecil had any significant contact with anybody else other than Kenny Rogers.

It's also possible that Cecil didn't even have contact with KR, and that KR was lying to Bell about Cecil's involvement for the purpose of him (KR) keeping the entire lump sum payout.  Did Bell ever actually meet face to face with Cecil?  Other than text messages and three way telephone conversations in which Cecil rarely spoke, what supposed direct contact did Bell have with Cecil?

The FBI is involved in this from the standpoint of the big picture.  If Cecil did something wrong then it will be the NCAA that handles that (IMO).

Grasping at straws! Pretty dang sad that they are so worried and concerned about Auburn that they can't enjoy the fact they won the NC last year! THEY GOT ISSUES

Does this mean the Epic Thread on tigerdroppings  was an EPIC FAIL??

Yep - "No Tuna for you!" :)

Who was the crazy dude that all th bammers worshiped, who hasn't posted for a while but came out with some other silly posting about how Auburn was going down and that we needed to get ready, etc? I am dying to see what he is saying now that the bammers fell all over themselves over his post and it turned out to be more crap....

I disagree with his reasoning. The text message had a plan of $80k, then $50k 30 days later, then $50k 30 days after that. That would have put the last payment right around March. Having said that, I think his attorney is well-respected by a lot of high-ranking folks (including UAT BOT) - so I feel a lot better that he shot it down so fiercely.

With all due respect, you are wrong about this.  As anybody who does business with one knows, the procurement code for every state institution is very specific about how taxpayer $$ is to be justified, budgeted, and spent (competitive bidding, etc.) and the associated accounting requirements are pretty transparent.  Ten thousand would be a big deal, misappropriating 100K+  sends people to jail.

My Bama buddy told me the same thing. This guy doesn't post often but when he does they say it's gospel... only problem I had with that was Mayor and ST posted the direct opposite the same day, saying if all continued as planned AU would be OK.  Personally, I put my faith in Mayor and ST!!!  :wareagle:

It would be great to hear some news from ST. After he came out this week and said that it was looking good for us and that we should receive good news by Friday, I thought for sure we were nearing the end. Then, nothing happened and since ST's post, he has gone silent. I feel that a follow-up to Tuesday's post would be helpful. I know there have been a lot of folks asking questions with no one answering. This is very uncharacteristic ST.

I also asked him if we were expecting any news Friday afternoon on Facebook and it was ignored. He has been around because he has posted several other things on Facebook.   :dunno:
